Worked in this city for a year. In the revolution and the overthrowing Ali Abdulah Salah. Old city old buildings- some beautiful mosques. Castle on the mountain worth a visit watch the sun go down over the city. People are friendly and kind, chew quat quite an experience, local food fantastic. Don't drink the water unless it comes out of a sealed bottle, carry Imodium (in case of diarea and loo rolls too). Watch out for kidnap as westerners have been targeted in previous years. Check Home Office travel advice.
