My ancestor William Elliott fought as a Confederate at the battle of Lone Jack. He was killed in the battle. He doesn't have a stone but there is a lovely Confederate Memorial in the cemetery. It is nice to see there is a visitor center though it was closed when I arrived.

The Lone Jack Battlefield Museum is well worth the one to two hours it will take you to experience this great little museum.
It really does have some very good exhibits, but what really sets this museum apart and was unexpected was the gentleman who gave us his undivided attention (the museum wasn't busy). A lot of museums have people who really don't care how good your experience is, but our "guide" invested in us and when we were finished we felt that immersed in Lone Jack Civil War history. Event to the point that you felt you knew some of the soldiers as well as the key players. You could just tell our guide had a passion for what he was doing even though he was very elderly and was moving slow... and rightly so. I am sure he has paid his dues.
Well worth our time.

The museum, dedicated during the centennial of the Civil War in 1963, sits on part of the core battlefield area where some of the most desperate fighting took place. Inside there are dioramas and updated exhibits. Maps help orient you with what happened where. Outside you can walk the grassy battlefield site, and visit the Soldiers Cemetery, where the slain from both sides in the battle are buried in mass graves. Union and Confederate monuments mark the location. A unique and informative site, operated by dedicated volunteers.

this is a great smaller battlefield, near Kansas City, have been to the battlefield many times, had not been to the museum for many years till recently, staff was super knowledgeable, on the events of the battle and the civil war in general, this was a somewhat small battle, but has the best resources and staff I have ever seen, while visiting a battle sight of this size

I've wanted to visit this museum for years and finally got the chance! Very nice exhibits. Knowledgeable staff who answer questions. It was good to learn more about the Civil War in this area.

Located right south of Route 50, this is a small memorial for the battle and a cemetery too. It has a small Museum. But the entry fee is $5, so if you are interested in that sort of thing and the history of the battle your welcome to go in. But the museum looked pretty small too.

I took my 17 and 15 year old boys to this little history museum. It was a neat little lesson about Lone Jack Missouri. It is small but has some very cool art and artifacts. A good story too. If you are into the history of Northern Aggression against The South. It is worth a stop.

Don't get me wrong, we have driven by the signs to this site for 50+ years. We finally decided to make a special trip with friends. While the museum, battlefield, and cemetery is very small to compared to other Civil War Battlefields it was interesting. Saying that, it is a Jackon County park and not a National Park. Their furnace was out so it was extremely cold in the museum. For those wiser than me, who wore jackets to the museum, they did much better. It apparently is a low budget operation as our 90 year old ticket taker, was also our dosent from her desk. Later her daughter came in and relieved her. It good that the locals take interest in there history to volunteer their time and knowledge.
