There are morning bangs and other noises that makes this place not recommendable. The staff is unfriendly and the owner press me to check out because she has another people trying to book my room. The rabish stayed for 5 days outside the rooms and no one take care of it.
My boyfriend and I had our trekking booked through family tribal trekking and we're pleasantly suprised after reading some of the reviews. We were picked up from our hotel at 9:30 am in a converted pick up truck (the standard taxi for Chiang Mai). We (us and 5 others) were then taken to the start point after a few stops at a market and butterfly farm. We were given lunch of fried rice in a bamboo balcony over a small river with a view of the mountains before we set off hiking up one of the surrounding mountains. It was hot and challenging but extremely forfilling once at the top and overlooking the village. The hike took around 3 hours from start to finish. We then went to camp where we rode the eleaphants around the camp/ farm area and later bathed them in the river below. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and some of the best treated elaphants we have despite a few things that made us look twice. After dinner we sat around the camp fire while listening and watching the long neck tribe women sing and dance. We were then asked to join in and sat and chatted to them after. It was a very relaxed environment. The bamboo huts where you sleep are comfy enough for one night with a thin foam mattress and woolen blanket covered by a mosquito net. However if you are light sleeper this may be the one of the worst nights sleep you may have. The farm had 27 dogs and countless numbers of chickens and roosters. During the whole night the dogs would scratch at the door and get into the hut and the roostes were awake from 4am. The second day contained alot less walking with only a 30 minute walk to and from the waterfall which is quite low this time of year but still fun and refreshing. There was a simular problem with the white water rafting due the hight of the river so it was all very stop and start. You are then returned to your hotel by 4pm. We were originally signed up for the 3 day, 2 night trip but changed our minds during as we're informed the second day was a 25km hike (not to our taste). They quite happily returned us early but informed we would not be refunded our extra 100 baht each (we had no diputes over this). It was an amazing experience and despite the negatives I would highly recommend it.…
