Introduction to the “Mafalala Walking Tour” in Maputo, MozambiqueThis pilot initiative is managed by a local association, IVERCA, which aim at linking the local communities to promising tourism value chains, harnessing their entrepreneurial capacities, generating income and employment for the poor. This tour takes you to Mafalala, a poor neighborhood of Maputo and a living museum of Mozambique’s traditions (dance, food, house building & religion), and present history.

Muteko is an association created by Mozambican artists. Muteko promotes responsible tourism, organizing safe guided tours in Maputo, parks, local communities, beaches, trips up to the north and much more.Muteko is recognized by the Southafrican National Parks organization and organizes trips to the Kruger Park.The Association has a 4 x 4 van and can provide shuttle services for the airport. Muteko bar is a place where people get together to relax, have fun with friends while eating mozambican dishes. You can also realize your own batik guided by skilled artists or visit one of the community woman who will introduce you to local traditions.Muteko’s members are volunteering in their own “Bairro”, helping orphans providing them school materials and uniforms, offering lunch to the poorest among them.Muteko works in partnership with the Italian volunteer association SOLE onlus
