I have just looked at booking some seats for "The Darkest Hours" at the newly refurbed cinema, and looking forward to the experience. But what's this - two concessionary seats plus online booking fee over £25! What? This after my very favourable review last year. We have just been to see a latest release "The Florida Project" and the non concessionary seats booked online were £5.50 each. Admittedly this was in France where they are not particularly keen on movies. It was VO with French subs and half full in the afternoon similar to the time we wanted for The Darkest Hour. We would have seen it at this wonderful similarly refurbed cinema in Angers a largish city in the Loire, but we saw it was coming to Oxted only to discover seats at double the price. How is this possible? It has deterred us going to see the movie. We were hoping that this, our local cinema, would be offering us more variety and less popular movies, eg foreign language and Sundance movies, perhaps for which we would have paid extra. But for a film on general release £12 a seat is OTT. I tried to find some "standard" seats and non could I find. Not bothered about lounger chairs and all the flummery I am interested in Movies and want to see them at a cinema. So, it looks like the BFI for us or wait for the DVD or streaming. Any answers please.

Do they allow the food to be eaten at the sofas while watching the film at this Everyman Oxted cinema? Can you take your own snacks/drinks/food?

Does Sandy still work there as the chief projectionist ? I worked with Sandy as a trainee projectionist at the Astor Cinema high street Bromley in the early 1970s then again at the Ace 1 2 3 Sevenoaks in the 1980s....... David GILES : )
