An extremely short walk from the car park and you have amazing views. Well worth a look. There are also a number of information panels about the power station and its construction, which are truly interesting.

Staying in one of the cabins overnight and parked up at the lookout on our way in. Very informative and great foresight to provide a facility so that we tourists can learn a little about the marvels of the Tasmanian hydroelectric power supply. Excellent signage and technical details that we could understand. Great views from the lookout over the valley below and adjacent hillsides. We then headed back to the two towers that we spotted adjacent the entry road. They are surge towers and protect against pressure overload. Very worthwhile taking the short drive from the highway if not staying at Tarraleah.

Great place to learn about and look down on an early part of Tasmania’s hydro history. Located at the entry to Tarraleah Homestead Accommodation. Parking is great and the documented history on the signs at the site are very informative.

Good spot to stop on the drive to or from the west coast. Worth the quick detour to see the views down to the power station before past it. Make sure to go see the hairy cows nearby! Worth it!

A small car park beside the lodge gives easy flat access to a deck looking out over the hydro pipes, down to the river then back up the other side.

Within Township of Tarraleah - this is well worth the short walk! Good history on plats at site.

Good information at the viewing platform which is a short flat walk from where you park your car. Massive pipelines taking water down to the power station, one had water spraying out of it so I hope it gets fixed.

In Tarraleah wird Wasserenergie gewonnen. Zur Zeit seiner Entstehung nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg war dies das grösste Wasserkraftwerk Australiens und 30 Nationen waren an seiner Entstehung beteiligt. Beim imposanten Aussichtspunkt im Dorf kann man direkt neben den grossen Wasserrohren in die Tiefe schauen. Ein tolles Fotomotiv und eine interessante Perspektive.
