A circa 45 km da Souk Ahras non ci si passa per caso ma bisogna volerlo visitare. Infatti eravamo soli ed il sito è piuttosto esteso con punti in cui bisogna attraversare le erbacce. Splendido comunque il teatro e molto bella anche la zona d’ingresso della città con l’arco e le terme. Non si è invece capito che cosa fosse la grandissima piscina nelle vicinanze del teatro.

We enjoyed visit in Khemissa (Thubursicum Numidarium) very much. The place is big - much bigger than it seems from the first sight. The pool and theatre are amazing. We were all alone here, no one else was visiting, like you see in Tipaza, Djemila or Timgad. This place is well hidden in the moutanins, and so the views are breathtaking. It is a shame the nice guide did not speak french or english, we could learn more about this place. We stayed over 3 hours. On the route there you can enjoy the view of Ain Delia dam.

Khemissa Roman Ruins are located near Souk Ahras. The ruins are located on a large hill side, and has excellent views of the surrounding area. The ruins are larger than other nearby sites. Again, like other sites there were no other tourists or locals amongst the ruins.
Khemissa has some excellent set piece views. To the left of the entrance is a very well preserved Roman theatre, which is next to a long pool or bath. Both are impressive. The ruins to the right of the entrance have a number of arches still intact that are quite photogenic. A temple ruin on a hilltop spur has a great backdrop of the hills behind. Located near here is an unusual Roman complex built into the hillside - perhaps tombs. At the furthest point away from the entrance are some Roman tomb stones and an impressive entrance arch to the town.
