Città romana in cui ha studiato Sant’Agostino, quindi importante dal punto di vista storico. Si possono visitare delle terme vicino all’ingresso e, lungo un percorso, un Mausoleo, una Basilica paleocristiana, ma soprattutto il piccolo teatro (dell’intero nord Africa) molto ben conservato.

Madure’s Roman Ruins are located near Souk Ahras. Madure is located on attractive hills with excellent views. The ruins are devoid of people, and I didn’t see any other tourists or locals amongst the ruins.
Madure has a small museum that has some impressive mosaics and statues. The ruins have a number of set piece sights that mark them out. Madure has a large Byzantine fort, one of the best that I saw in Algeria . Inside the fort is Roman theatre with a backdrop of rolling hills. Over the hill from the fort is a tall freestanding Roman tomb, much like the ones in Palmyra. This is the largest and tallest Roman tomb that I saw in Algeria . The ruins also have the usual bath house and temple ruins. There is a small museum on site.
