A large museum/educational facility devoted to insects of all types and from around the world.
Information in Japanese which means we needed translations of what particularly interested us (provided by our son). Vast collection of pinned insects, large butterfly house with free fliers and interprative displays.
Not at all sure about them allowing unsupervised handling of live specimens.
Small souvenir shop but no cafe.

とてもおもしろい虫の博物館です。蝶々などの死んでいる姿もあるし、いろいろいっぱいの生きている虫がいます。
成長が見れて、説明があって、勉強になります。
博物館の屋根から遠くまで景色が見れて、それも楽しめます。

とても良い昆虫の博物館です。昆虫が好きなら最高だと思います。
入場料が安くて、たくさんの昆虫（生きている昆虫も）が見れます。
蝶々の園がとても素敵です。蝶々を見ながら写真を撮ったりして、楽しかったです。
蝶々を触るのは禁止されているけど、触る人がいました。看板があるけど、誰か触らないように注意したほうが良いかもしれません。
博物館の屋根に行ったら海まで見える景色があります。
とても楽しかったです。

A big museum about insects, with many kinds of beetles, and a large butterfly house to walk through. Much more to see than I expected! For 410 yen for adults, less for children, it is great value.
It unfortunately lacks English explanations, aside from some insect names in English, so reduce by 1 star if you cannot read Japanese. There are exhibits showing the habitats that insects live in around the world, many pinned/preserved butterflies and other insects, exhibits about endangered insects in Ishikawa and Japan, and how they catch insects for study.
They have many kinds of beetles in display cases, some very unusual, plus a wasp, and a beehive outside that you can see through a window. The main attraction is the large butterfly house, full of different species of butterflies that you can see up close. Great to walk through and get photos of the butterflies.
You can go up to the roof for views around the area, and there is a gift shop on the way out.

暑い夏の日に子ども二人と一緒に行きました。中は涼しいので良いです。チョウの薗が良かったです。蝶がワラワラ居ます。蝶寄せの帽子をかぶると凄いことになるらしいですが、その日は残念ながらやってませんでした。

This was really worth the trip from Kanazawa! Easy to acces by train (Tsurugi Station) and then 30 min walk. A really big, beautiful, and fun museum with a great section for kids. They have an english broschure for the place. Informations are all in Japanese but I helped myself with a translator app. On saturdays and sundays they have things like feeding shows (they also have living insects).

虫ばっかりで・・・楽しいのかな？と半信半疑でしたが、意外と楽しめる場所です。普段は入れないところをまわるツアーがおすすめです。昆虫の育て方の現場のお部屋にも入れます。
蝶が飛ぶ温室は、なかなか蝶がそばに来てくれない・・・( ；∀；)
帽子は取り合いになるのでなかなかあかないかもです。
虫が苦手なのに行ってみましたが、子どもはやっぱり楽しいみたいなので一度は行っといていいスポットだと思います。

帰省中に8歳の娘と行きました。お目当てのカブトムシ触れ合いはもちろん、ヘラクレスオオカブトとの触れ合いやチョウチョの園、他にも触れる昆虫展示が多く娘は大満足でした。
周りは大自然で山も川も近いので一日中周辺で遊んですごせました。
