There were only 3 of us: a Japanese man and one Japanese lady and me (Westerner). A nice lady patiently and kindly taught us how to put on our kimonos. We were driven to a temple where we could hear about the interesting history of the temple, viewed the most attractive, humorous, beautiful wooden statues, and then were treated to a Zen vegetarian lunch. The head of the temple joined us for lunch and answered all of our questions, including "What is 'Truth'?" SO INTERESTING and enlightening!! We then walked from 1 temple to another nearby temple, passing a garden in which cabbages, onions, carrots, and other things were growing beautifully on one side and a large rice paddy on the other side. There was not much traffic, so it was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful! We also passed figs and oranges growing beautifully on their trees. At the second temple, we were served a tea ceremony with the most delicious, fresh green tea (matcha?) and wonderful Japanese sweets. The head of that temple himself served us, talked with us, and answered all the questions we had then. We were then given a ride to our final destination: the cutest little organic/homemade/homegrown shop and workshop where you can make all sorts of crafts and fun memories. We tearfully got out of our kimonos there and changed back into our everyday clothes, preparing us to leave the peace of quiet of this area that felt so far away from our daily lives but was actually just a short train ride from Arashiyama.
The people!! I met eight very kind, always smiling, wonderful people who made this day possible. They all speak very good English or they have smiles and enough welcoming gestures that you can communicate just as well as if you all speak exactly the same dialect of the same language!
I seriously CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!

We had an awesome time in this cycling. All the way was very easy and the views in
the countryside were really lovely. Our guide Cozy was super friendly and explained a lot about Japanese culture at each spot. The silk fabric factory we visited was an excellent highlight of the tour. Oigawa- river is upper part of Hozugawa-river in Arashiyama.It’s more beautiful water and view than in Arashiyama. It was a great addition to our trip to Japan. Thank you for a great tour, Cozy!
