伊部駅から徒歩5分ほど。備前焼のお店が並ぶ通りにあります。こちらでは木村微風とその娘さん、娘さんの旦那さんの3人の作家の品が並べられています。お店のレイアウトも他のお店と少し違う感じです。店の奥にある中庭の方にも展示されています。手びねりのものもありました。深みのあるシソ色をベースに、形も独自のものが多く、ひかれるものがありました。いろいろお店をまわった上で、こちらで普段使いの器を購入しました。

This was the highlight of our recent trip to Japan.
Famous Bizenyaki pottery makers are all clustered around the Imbe station, about 50 minutes by a single track railroad from Okayama, a delightful second tier city near Hiroshima that can be reached by the bullet train.
Kibido is a pottery business that has been run by the Kimura family for 10 generations. The youngest member studied in Los Angeles and married a man from San Fernando Valley. They speak English and reply to e-mails.
While Bizenyaki is often associated with unusual reddish patterns on light colored pottery by wrapping the pottery with straw prior to firing, Kimura family values the deep rich coloration that can be achieved by firing at higher temperatures in their wood fired climbing kiln. The resulting pottery is surprisingly smooth and impermeable to water without glazing. The firing is performed once a year in the Spring time. They use wood that is allowed to season for a year to achieve the high temperatures. The clay they use is harvested locally and processed by hand on site prior to being shaped. The Kimura family is very generous in showing us around.
There is a lot of different wares on sale in the shop, much more than shown in the website. They are currently made by 4 members of the Kimura family spanning 2 generations.
