At the turn of a walk, the castle is worth stopping there. The tour is only guided but it is very interesting. The guides are dressed in old costumes

You pay 15 euros entrance and we stood with 15 mine weather outside so little to see a few rooms. Found it very disappointing

The walk to the castle from the parking lot was very nice, and in parallel to a bubbling brook. We visited on Christmas Day, it was one of the very few sites open on December 25. We did a self guided tour, yet attendants were on hand to explain items if we asked questions. They spoke in English, Dutch, Flemish and French, with varying fluency. Some places were slippery with rain/snow that happened recently but not dangerous. Chateau de Reinhardstein was my family's favorite "castle" to visit. They do brew a reasonably priced beer on site, of which we bought 2 bottles. There also were soaps (prohibitively expensive) and flavored rums for sale. There is a cafe on location with a limited menu. The Christmas stalls (mini-Christmas market) were closed.
There are plenty of other hiking trails in the vicinity but we did not explore them.

Mixed... on the site, the price displayed was 11 euros. on the spot, it was 15 pp...
Very nice decoration for Christmas, explanations given by some people on site but few rooms accessible, we quickly went around... a little expensive so for so little. Exterior toilet cabin...

Very nice place to do a nice walk.
We were there just after New Year, there was the Christmas decoration in the castle, it was very nice. In addition there is an hourly storyteller (Fr/Nl).
The price is a bit high in my opinion for the visit (Adults 15€ for a relatively short visit).

Amateur museum without explanation, the explanation that was available was only in French. Lots of Christmas decorations, but no substance or historical value. Admission is 15 euros, for a short, unsaturated visit where especially adults would not feel taken seriously. The castle is beautiful from the outside but disappointing from the inside, not recommended. Employees are medieval dressed, but little need for the experience...

We can't find information about opening hours on the website. After 50 km detour and 500 m steep descent with wheelchair we are at closed gate, like many other people. Decision,: not customer friendly nor accessible

Les horaires sont bien indiqués sur notre site internet www.reinhardstein.net . Nous avons également 3 panneaux de 80cm / 1m20 qui sont installés tout le long du parcours , le premier au parking , ces panneaux vous donnent tous les renseignements nécessaires . Il y est également indiqué que le château n'est (malheureusement) pas accessible aux personnes à mobilité réduite . En espérant vous voir à un autre moment pour que l'image de Reinhardstein soit redorée dans votre souvenir . Cordialement

Beautiful castle with rich history hidden in a valley. It's like stepping into a Harry Potter movie. Parking at the reservoir (barrage) and walk through forest to castle is recommended.
Guided tour in Dutch is outside holidays only on Wednesdays at 14.30 (therefore check website before visiting). Unfortunately, the interior was not authentic with a mishmash and too many objects from different style periods collected together by last occupant. We found some kitsch (hence the score 3) and detract from the castle. Guide was friendly and knew a lot and fascinating to tell. All in all, a visit is worthwhile.

The castle built twice! Built in the 14th century, it was reduced to the state of ruin and stone quarry.
At the end of the 20th century, Mr d'Overloop bought the ruins, designed and financed the identical reconstruction and tastefully furnished the castle.
He donated it to a local non-profit organization which, through the Visits Award, maintains the castle and shows it around.
Our Guide was erudite and charming. It also aroused the interest of children.
A visit to highly recommend.
However, the visit is not recommended for people with reduced mobility and it is impossible to reach the castle. Access is by a very steep road<<<<<<<; car parks are located 600m from the castle.

Ik weet het niet; daarom kan je best even navragen (Tel : +32 (0) 80 44 68 68). De man die aan het loket zit; woont ook op het domein (hij was de naaste medewerker van prof Overloop, die het kasteel renoveerde).

Op welke uren zijn er op zondag 7 okt. as rondleidingen en is het raadzaam om te reserveren met een groep van 10 of kunnen wij ons gewoon aansluiten ?.

je kan best contact opnemen met het kasteel want dat weet ik ook niet dat vind je op hun website (mag ik hier niet vermelden maar gewoon rheinardstein en dan punt net erachter

Hi Yenthe, you can access the castle lower court and pub with a wheelchair. Visiting the castle and its surrounding can not be done in a wheelchair.
