Although mentioned in a new printed guide book, after searching back roads for over an hour, and even asking directions from a policeman, we eventually found the place - only to realise that it's no longer trading. The site isn't even accessible as the access road's ford across a small river had washed away.

Not sure how to submit this except as a review. We stopped at La Sikwi during our trip and were surprised to see it virtually deserted. After a few minutes of nosing around, we found someone harvesting plantains. He explained that there had been a bad fire and that La Sikwi was closed. Comparing the posted picture to what we saw, it seems essentially all of the wood (roof, etc) had burned, leaving only the stone behind. I am unsure when/if this will reopen.

We did the Sugar to Rum tour with Stormin Norman and stopped here to have a tour of the gardens and mill (both very pretty and the guide was very informative and enthusuastic), then got to taste 20 different types of rum (ginger, coconut, chocolate, mint, the local Bounty, spiced and a double strength!) and lots of local produce. This is tour is very good value for money at half the price of the others available. We also got to stop at the local distillery and purchase rum at trade prices, which is half the price of that in the gift shops and other places). On the way back you get to take a little ferry across Marigot Bay, which very little of the tours offer.
