Drive down to Northern lighthouse with Coast Guard Station. Park in parking lot on left. Head of trail from parking lot. Follow trail by sea shore. This is the best way to go. About 15-20 min walk one way. Key is to go at low tide. Many seals on island near shore. Could spend hours just watching them lay there, move around, and swim. Also saw younger seals. One lone light brown seal on shore away from group of seals. Good to bring binoculars or long lens camera to see better.

Beautiful vistas, nice hike but no seals? I sold in the walk to my teens as the place to see & hear a bunch of seals…. In fact, only spotted a couple in the water. A sign or two along the path would be very helpful too, it was tough to know if we should have keep walking or how long the trail is.

As per the title, it is always a pleasure to hear and see the seals. They are in great numbers there. Unfortunately, on my most recent visit it was fogged in solid, but we have no control over the elements and the weather. I still got to hear the seals though.

Decided to go left off the ferry...and glad we did. It was low tide and we got to watch the seals laying on the rocks....and talking amongst themselves. Would highly recommend this free experience

Kids loved foraging for sea snails and shells. Loved the curious seals eyeing us up. Not a long walk but a bit treacherous at times.

If you’re going on the hike and starting at the lighthouse, it takes about 20 minutes to get to seal cove and it’s well worth it! It’s a beautiful view from the top of the cliff! It’s really important to go at low tide if you want to see lots of seals because that’s when they’re all lounging on the rocks (if not they’re in the water and swimming around). The walk isn’t too difficult, but there are some areas that are uneven, so it’s important to wear good shoes. We went after it rained and the path was quite muddy and there were some large puddles, so a change of socks and shoes is a good idea

We love the whale-watching excursions off Brier Island, but we always make sure to take time to walk out and see (and hear) the seals. Like the whales, they're just going about their lives and doing what they do naturally. It's great to have the opportunity to witness that!

A short drive along the gravelled road leads to a good car park by the lighthouse. It is probably a fifteen minute walk to the cove crossing a number of small streams. You need to ensure that you are there at low tide as the seals lie out on the rocks.
Their song is eerie. Could you imagine lonely sailors being enticed onto the rocks. Geologically there are could examples of columnar basalt clearly exposed. Very peaceful! Look out for the sea eagles. One flew directly overhead about 5 metres above us.

Beautiful nature trail leading around the coastline of brier island. Bring water and wear good sneakers or hiking shoes. Binoculars or a good camera would be good too but not necessary. After leaving the ferry dock turn right and follow paved road until it becomes gravel. Follow the gravel until you reach the sign by the coastguard station that says no entrance there is a parking lot with porta-potties on the right, you park in the lot near the coast guard building and follow the sign to the seal cove trail follow the trail to the left and it will go on for quite awhile, follow the path around the shore until you see large white styrofoam ball it almost looks like a large white boulder. If you walk out straight toward the water there should be a group of seals. Sit down on the rocks or get low and be quiet the seals will be very watchful at first but will relax a bit. The views are gorgeous and seeing seals in the wild is amazing. Gorgeous flowers and plants are a bonus. Hike takes about 45 minutes each way plus time you spend watching.
