This is a must visit for mid-Wales. Stunning stunning stunning. The views are breathtaking and we enjoyed a long walk - 1.5 hours, picnic and cheeky paddle.

We visited the lake today and looked forward to a bike ride as we read on the reviews that you could ride right around. We were disappointed with the surface of the track as there were very big stones and thick ruts of mud, and we found it dangerous to ride on a normal bike ( you would at least need a mountain bike) i hit a stone and nearly came off so we turned around and came back. Also the toilet in the car park was pretty disgusting. Blocked. No toilet roll, and no soap. The scenery and views on the drive around was spectacular and we would have liked to have enjoyed a bike ride to see it

We visited the dam during some renovation work on it, so we couldn't see the overflowing stream of water downhill, but still, it was a lovely place to visit, despite the unbearable roads.

Haven't been there since it was being built in the late 60's went i went on a school geography trip there. Stunning views these days when you drive around the lake. Went there just after lockdown eased last year. Quiet, no facilities open and was very blowy taking the temp down a degree or three.

My wife and I recently visited the Dam for the first time in a number of years, the views are beautiful, we drove around one side just to take in the colours, even though the water was low you could not see the buildings that were "drowned " when the dam was built. (We have seen these previously when there is a drought).

Visited last week and was blown away by the sights. No water running down but water was shooting into the air at the bottom and we could feel the spray from the car park. Definitely recommend

We just walked this yesterday with our kids.
It was made better by the lashing rain throughout the whole day.
It isn't too short a walk and once you are half way round you are committed to completing it.
It was 27km from the Dam car park all the way round and took us 5hrs 30 mins.
Some fantastic views and great photo opportunities as you go round.
The West side of the walk is forestry track and the East side is a road.
Very wet and tired family at the end.

Stunning drive to the Dam, plenty of parking spaces free of charge.
Lots of walking opportunities.
Dog friendly.
No facilities apart from portaloos but we never used them so can't comment.
Definitely recommend.

Of course this is an amazing place to visit but the coffee van has gone and the toilets are closed while the construction project is in progress.
The nice clean public toilets have been replaced by a row of portable temporary men's, lady's and disabled toilets.
They are damp, cold and dirty with no hand wash facilities and no toilet paper.
I was glad that we were just a party of adults as if children would have been in the party it would have been dreadful.

Not difficult at all and at the moment the houses, that were flooded when the valley became a reservoir, are visible. Oooo so interesting. For your info, the car park by the dam walk has loos with baby changing facilities. Enjoy yourselves.

Is the old farm house that was submerged during the building of the Llyn Brianne dam visible , if so what area of could we see it?

How menu miles is it from Llandovery

The above response is incorrect! Llyn Brianne is approximately 16 miles from Llandovery. I frequently cycle this route. You can either go directly there through Rhandirmwyn or take an alternative route via Cilycwm. Either way, it's a fairly easy cycle.

unofficially, well there are many little inlets and bays, (which would make for wonderfully paddling), so.........?
However be prepared for angry anglers, you know the one's, the one's who can't share a precious resource!
