Great experience! We had a chance to get a glimpse of how it is to live in one of the communities in Tokio. Charming bikes and great Tour: cycling through small streets, visiting local shrines and temples and a charming hipster area. Chad our guide made this a very special event for us by answering all our questions about japanese culture, traditions and habits in a fun and knowledgeable way. He managed to guide us safely through traffic, bamboo forest and up the small hills :-)

Thank you Chad for introducing us to a lesser known suburb of Tokyo by bike. The bikes were well maintained and we felt safe and well-guided throughout the tour. We loved seeing this cool, local neighbourhood, trying local snacks and discovering more about how ordinary people live in the city. You had endless patience with our questions (everything from sustainability in Japan to the forthcoming elections!). We would highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful experience of how people live in Japan winding through cycle paths and back roads. Brad is thoughtful and easy to chat with and learn about the culture. Very lovely complement to seeing the major tourist sites, this is relaxed and authentic. Highly recommend!

This was a real high point of our trip to Japan. It was very interesting to see the suburbs of Tokyo and get a feeling for what life is like away from the centre. Brad was friendly and a great source of knowledge. He took us to a delightful little neighbourhood café for lunch and introduced us to local characters along the way. Meeting Jack San was also a highlight. Five stars!

Brad Bennett of @freewheeling.jp is an incredible guide ! He took us to some amazing places in Tokyo on our bikes! Secret spots that only locals know. Vintage BMX store, Blue Lug bike shop, Chi chi’s Grateful Dead store, some amazing Temples and Shrines and just delicious restaurants! He is everything you want in a guide! And he rode at our level which was speedy through the streets of Tokyo! He meets you at your level and interests. He really made our cycling trip to Tokyo special. One of the best ways to explore a new city is a guided tour by someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about the city AND experiences showing it off and sharing the passion with others. That is exactly what we got from freewheeling Japan. Chad was our guide and given we had done some walking touring already suggested a hidden gem tour. It was fantastic and showed us a side of Tokyo that we never would have seen before. Chad was also ready to answer any questions we had as we wanted to absorb as much as we could about the city and culture. Doing this on bikes meant we could go easily to different places and Tokyo is very bike friendly so it was very safe. Highly recommend this tour

Great cycle tour with the FreeWheeling crew. Wonderful exploration of back alleys in Setagaya & Shibuya, stopping at plenty of interesting & even historical sights. Brad & Chad are fun, energetic, knowledgeable guides who customised a memorable tour specific to our group.

What an amazing experience with Brad - if you want to explore the sides of Tokyo that the usual tour books won’t tell you - the hidden gems - and to learn to appreciate the culture and traditions of this wonderful city - Brad was a delight to spend time with - so easy to plan with - very accommodating and so thoughtful in how he designed our experience to include Harrison our 9 yo son - rivers, shrines, temples, bike paths, parks, local architecture, local cuisine - very evident that Brad is deeply respected by his local community members - as is Jack the pooch 🐶 surpassed all expectations - very very highly recommended - a real treat 🇯🇵🗺👨👩👦🐻✨

We went for a bike ride with Chad during our four day stay in Tokyo. It had rained that morning so he was hesitant to take us far from the headquarters in case it started up again, but it made the ride pretty uneventful. He did take us to a beautiful temple and told us a lot about the Buddhist belief system and practices, which was the highlight of the ride. Beyond that, it was a lot of just slow biking down random streets, along with a stop in a local park and then a coffee shop. For $75 per person the ride didn't seem worth it, but if you go on a nice day when you can explore areas further from their headquarters, it might make it worthwhile.
