Sorry to hear that you were shouted at by someone. It sounds like you parked in an independently operated car park that charges for parking near our farm. Unfortunately it is not connected to us at all so we cannot influence how they treat visitors who park there. I can understand how that might be upsetting and I’m sorry that it spoilt your visit. Our lavender farm is indeed a medium size field full of lavender and bees during the short summer months.

I am sorry to read that you had a bad experience at our farm although I am not sure what that is as you do not specify. From what I can read you appear to be saying that although you entered our farm for free, didn't have to pay for parking, toilets or to wander through our land, you feel that our farm is very commercial. Sorry you feel that way. I don't quite understand your reference that "Previously it was ALL about the lavender, the beautiful fields, the gorgeous crop, the perfect setting and the ease of entry and actually, the odd cup of tea". Although this long hot dry summer has been hard on the lavender farm nothing of that has been changed in any way. What has changed in that despite never advertising, our fam has grown in popularity and many more people wish to visit. These visitors demand more food options from our little cafe, more choice of product from our shop and they like to take photos on our tractor and our telephone box (for free) as an interesting backdrop to their photos. We do have a little tractor train that goes around the field for £2.50 per passenger but that it entirely optional too. So in effect right now you can visit our farm, stay all day, pay nothing and go home when you are done. Is this very commercial? As we run a seasonal business that requires up to 50 staff to be available to work we must recruit people who do not have full time commitments and who are available to work during the summer. For this reason we recruit many young people who are on summer break from university. It is very valuable work experience for them and they are all from local families and are invariably polite and friendly. They are happy to help visitors and while they are not perfect we have many compliments passed to us about them. With regard to foreign visitors and London tourists I would like to clearly point out that we do not discriminate against any of our visitors. We welcome everyone equally and we are proud to have become a destination for visitors from all over the world who love to see our beautiful farm and who are happy to contribute towards its costs by voluntarily shopping at our cafe and shop. I am sorry that we will not be welcoming you again but wish you well on life's journey.

Thank you for your review. For the benefit of others reading this review I would just add that Children up to 14 years have free entry. We do not allow food to be brought into our farm because it generates a lot of waste and litter that has to be collected and disposed of (we allowed picnics for 6 years but each year the problem got worse). Our cafe prices are in line with local cafe prices. Our tractor train is just a fun way to tour the farm but it is possible to walk through the lavender and see the whole farm without riding on the tractor. We have a working farm that is open to the public to view the lavender for a short period of the year.
