The memorial is situated in the Renaisance building of the former congregation of the Unity of Czech Brethern in Fulnek. It was here that J.A.Komenský (Comenius) - pedagogue, philosopher, writer, cartographer, theologist and the last Bishop of the Unity of the Brethren - lived and worked from 1618 to1621. Several of his philosophical and pedagogical works were written here. The memorial was opened in 1954 and in 1962 he was declared a national cultural monument. In the park is situated a bronze sculptur by Jan Štursa (in Fulnek unveiled September 13, 1970). Another sculptur is by Jan Pelikán (on June 15, 1924) and was revealed at the occasion of openinf the first Czech School in Fulnek (in Czech Street).
