We called off to look on going between Malham and Settle. You park up and then walk for about five minutes over the dale till you reach the tarn. Very picturesque and also very breezy being the highest lake in the country.

This walk started well. The pathways were well maintained and the views of the tarn were beautiful.
Unfortunately we could only get halfway round the tarn and then had to walk a very long way on the roads to get back to the start.

Visited on Thursday 09th June 2022 After visiting Malham Village and Malham Cove. we headed to Malham Tarn and after a short walk onward to Stainforth Force. Parking nearby and a few hiking groups around when I visited as it is a route of the Pennine Way. Quite barren but nice enough for a stroll

This used to be an amazing site to come across on a hike, nowadays it's a short walk from a very accessible car park.......But that doesn't make it any less amazing.
Well worth a visit to see this large, remote body of water which, if you're lucky, has an array of visiting waterfowl. And, to walk the perimeter, if you have time.

We had 2 dogs with us and could not find an easy way to get to the Tarn. I went in 1962 and I'm sure it will have changed. A track and a car park would help.

Was not as easily signed posted from the Cove to the Tarn and we ended up going a long route around to it - worth a visit but might be best to visit by car and do a walk around that area

I walked up to here when I was walking with the little one. After leaving the Scar we followed the grass track and over the stile at the end. After crossing the stile we took the path on the right after crossing the road, which led to a small pond on the right. After passing this we turned left at the gate and headed towards a small copse. Behind the copse was the entrance to Malham Estate with the Tarn spreading out in front. One of the highest water points in England. When we were there we spotted a couple of Wagtails and a Heron fishing at the edge.

Perfect little lake on top of the dales, short walk along pasture from a small car park. Great spot for a picnic or just admire the view.

We wandered over to this Tarn while on a circular walk from Malham. There was hardly anyone there. It was very peaceful so we stayed there for a rest before going to Malham Cove.

No you cant do anything on it because there is some poisonous algae growing. it warns you not to let your dogs go near it as well.
