Park at the Malham visitor centre of for free in the road when their are spaces if you are nice and early.
Take the foot path on the left of the river just down the road and it leads you to Janet's Foss.

A fantastic walk not far from the Malham visitors centre on a well maintained path leads you to this natural pool and waterfall. Many people were enjoying a swim in the cold water and it is then a short walk to Gordale Scar or the top of Malham Cove if you fancy a circular walk. Really pretty, but rocky terrain around the pool.

We planned out trip early doors to avoid crowds and heat of the day. Still busy but best to go on a week day & avoid weekend. Go to the visitor centre first, they are friendly & offer good advice. Lots of water along the route for our dog. You can also fill up on drinking water in the village for free with a tap outside some public toilets further along from the cafes. Some nice spots in town to have a coffee or ice cream. Make sure to visit the cove!

Took our granddaughter here for first time. Lots of swimmers, and she couldn't wait to join them.
thoroughly enjoyed herself. Her comment when we were leaving was can we come back tomorrow.
As to come here entailed a 2 hour journey, had to say, not until you come back on holida

My husband my my self visited Janet’s Foss trail walk today. This was the first time doing this walk so we didn’t know what to expect.
Upon arriving in the village parking was very difficult to find. The very tiny village was absolutely packed with cars and people all doing different walks and trails.
We got lucky as the weather was fantastic!
After finally finding a parking spot we set off on the trial.
The walk was lovely but not as long as we thought.
The water fall area and the streams are only small compared to some of the other walks we have done such as Ingleton falls but the surrounding were still lovely and peaceful.
From Janet’s Foss we ended up entering into another walk called Malahm Landscape which was brilliant.
This lead us back around into the village after around an hour walk.
Janets Foss is a good walk for families with children and dogs. Not too strenuous. Easy trail for new walkers.
There is also the option after finishing this area to go off into other trails.
Yes I would recommend visiting this trial.

This romantic hidden waterfall is a short walk from Malham. The path is level and recently gravelled.
At the bottom of the waterfall the stones can be wet and slippery.
Very lovely place to visit.

Well worth the visit however wear good shoes as very uneven and can be slippy. Not suitable for wheelchair or pram users. Pay Carpark in village. Plenty of pubs and cafe in village.

The good quality path from Malham reflects how popular this route is. Fairly flat virtually all the way to the waterfall. Alternatively there is some parking on the road for those not wanting to walk but there is a bit of a step down to the waterfall which needs a little caution as it was slippery when we visited.
On our first walk past there had been a handful of people there but later at about midday it was chokka with people picnicking and some bathing.
There is a catering van in a lay by near the falls which was very popular.

This waterfall is an excellent stop on a circular walk of Malham. The waterfall isn’t especially tall, but the pool below is deep. Certainly deep enough for a swim. I also learned that the Nordic word for a waterfall is Foss. One of the most attractive features is the escarpment that seems to curve around the waterfall, forming a sort of curtain.

Does anyone know if there is a 'closing time' for the area or parking. We were planning on doing an evening walk when we arrive for our break away but don't want to get our car locked in anywhere!

Hi you can walk up there easy but if you want to get closer than it would be hard with the stroller as there is quite a steep slope down. Still worth to go for a walk there

From Malham village it's a steady 30 minute walk, however, if you drive up the road past the Lister Arms public house you may be able to park at the side of the road which separates Gordale Scar & Janet's Foss though there are limited spaces available. If you can park there it is literally a 2 minute walk to Janet's Foss.
Can a Motorhome park on the car park? We would like to do the walk whilst visiting the area.

At the tourist information centre I think there were motor homes. There is an additional car park in a field opposite that you would definitely fit on.

BD23 4DA is the postcode for the Tourist Information. On sunny weekends it gets busy so you will need to get there early to get a car parking space. I was there this Sunday and the car park at the Tourist Information was full and the road just before (or after if you're coming from the other direction) where you can also park, were both full.

Going from the village of Malham itself I reckon it would be possible in a wheelchair. There are no styles as far as I can remember. along the path. There are certainly no steep inclines to be negotiated and the path may be a bit uneven in places but if you have somebody with you to help on these bits you should manage OK.

I'll be visiting on a Saturday around 10am - what will parking be like around this time? And how long would be enough time to spend there do you think? Trying to fit in lots of things while we're in the area!

hi,there's parking back in the village pay and display but its a fair walk to janets foss , if you drive up to the area its free parking you can park on the side of the road
janet's foss is just down from [ i think there's a small bridge? and opposite is room for 2 cars but there are other areas to park onside of road ]
janet's foss is on a bend with sign and gate just a little down from the bridge we did have trouble finding it
opposite is a walk on a path through rocks and up to a waterfall which has i think 4 waterfalls in one and where people rock climb ,which is lovely and a must see why your there

Absolutely it's a wonderful doggy playground! I would recommend keeping them on a lead in certain areas as there are sheep grazing. Hope this helps :-)
