It is a beautiful Villa, more than a real castle. Beautiful rooms can also be visited thanks to the QR codes, however the price seems unjustified, despite knowing that it is a private site, more suitable for receptions... as in fact it is intended.

Very pleasant and interesting visit, the Castle is not large but the rooms that can be visited are well preserved and the QR codes scattered in the various rooms offer information and stories on the history of the place and the objects that decorate it
The gardens are also very nice and well-kept

Thiene castle is cute
It is located right in the center of the town and they also offer guided tours for a small fee added to the cost of the ticket . We didn't take advantage of it because in every room with a smartphone you can access a very convenient vocal explanation via barcode, so you can visit everything independently. The castle maintains original and intact rooms, kitchen and icebox. The stables are beautiful, truly elegant. The rooms and paintings tell the story of the families, history, arts and customs that characterized the years between the end of the 1400s and the 19th century in the Veneto area.

The building was built in the fifteenth century, in late Gothic style, on the initiative of Francesco Porto (scion of one of the most powerful families in the Vicenza area at the time). Originally it was only a "warehouse", a term deriving from the Arabic language which indicates a structure that can be used simultaneously as a civil residence and as a warehouse for agricultural products. Stables, accommodation for workers, etc. were added to the main building. and the entire complex was enclosed in a sturdy wall (mostly still existing) onto which various entrances opened. In the sixteenth century the main building was modified with the addition of the second floor and with the transformation of the first into an elegant "noble floor", intended for the owner's family. Other parts of the building were also significantly embellished. As a result, the structure lost much of its rural appearance, rather resembling an aristocratic villa. Despite these changes and the fact that it never had military functions, the building has always been popularly defined as the "castle".
At the beginning of the 19th century the site became the property of the Colleoni-Suardi (descendants of the famous leader Bartolomeo) who owned it for about a century, before handing it over to the counts of Thiene: the well-known Vicenza family whose name is clearly connected with that of the small town. The Thienes are still the owners of the property.
The main building has a rectangular plan, with four turrets with Ghibelline battlements (i.e. swallowtail) at the top culminating in a showy pinnacle. In the main facade the lower part is dominated by a harmonious gallery with five slightly pointed arches; The intermediate floor has a splendid five-light window in Gothic style, on the sides of which there are two elegant single-lancet windows; the upper part is characterized by a long series of small windows; the turrets show two graceful Gothic windows on the intermediate floor and four simpler openings on the other levels.
The large internal hall on the ground floor (called the Camino bedroom) stands out for its spectacular frescoes inspired by Tito Livio's History of Rome, attributed to two students of Veronese: Giovanni Antonio Fasolo and Giambattista Zelotti. Among the nearby rooms there is one dedicated to the game of billiards; in others the portraits of the main exponents of the families who own the property are displayed. The main floor is dominated by the large five-light hall, embellished with some equestrian portraits.
Worth seeing is the stable adjacent to the main building, completely renovated in the eighteenth century. The environment is unusually elegant for a construction of this kind: the animal stalls, sixteen on each of the two long sides, are marked by red marble columns, surmounted by graceful plaster cherubs, all different from each other; the roof is supported by powerful, carefully arranged wooden beams; the floor of the central corridor features a complex interlacing decoration, meticulously chiselled to prevent the horses from slipping. The castle and neighboring buildings are surrounded by a very green garden of approximately 12,000 m2, full of tall trees. There is also a beautiful sixteenth-century well designed by the great architect Andrea Palladio.
Just outside the complex, along Corso Garibaldi, stands what was once the noble chapel of the palace where the lords went to attend the sacred functions reserved for them. The church and the adjacent bell tower, dating back to the second half of the 15th century, are a fine example of Lombard Gothic style made even more valuable by the marble portal finely crafted in bas-reliefs. Today the building is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin, but the people of Thien popularly call it the "Red Church", due to the color of the bricks that cover its surfaces.

The castle itself is also nice but honestly it is not worth the price of the ticket as there is nothing spectacular the park was not even that well looked after and many parts of the castle were closed to visits within a quarter of an hour we did the complete tour since there is very little to see
