It’s a long drive for a rock…..so if you are in the area swing by. I would not go out of my way honestly. Stop at Kaiteriteri.

Insta-worthy rock formation that is best explored by kayak. Access to view can also be made via the adjacent beach or by Sea Shuttle (water taxi).
Some say it resembles an avocado more, but was given the moniker by an apple farmer during an advertising campaign.
Our guide explained it was the most photographed rock in the world, which may be a slight exaggeration - Uluṟu, Twelve Apostles, Horseshoe Bend, Wave Rock, Monument Valley immediately come to mind.

A much better beach than Kaiteriteri, although harder to access and not the amenities.
But if you want lovely outlook and a beautiful beach this is it.
Spit Apple rock is amazing picturesque and seems to attract plenty of attention from kayakers.
There is a basic toilet just off the beach. The beach is accessed by a 10-15min walking track.

Worth the drive from Kaiteriteri, and the short walk to the beach to see split apple rock, there are a few steps on the path through the bush nice comfortable walk, we we’re lucky enough to have beach to our selves was stunning,

We saw this from the Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle cruise so we were able to get nice and close on a beautiful day on the water and learn some of the history and reason why this was believed to have split. You can drive close to it from Kaiteriteri I believe and it is a short kayak paddle.

Stunning, a great swimming beach clear water and calm.
There’s a toilet and shade from
Trees.
However check the tides if it’s king tides there is no beach and your 10
Minutes walk will be disappointing.

This was part of the half day cruise to Totaranui and back. Close to Kaiteriteri and I think you can drive to it about 4km.

This is a cool little spot to spend half an hour if you are in the area. There is an easy 10 minute walk through the bush (there are some stairs) to get to the beach. I would take rock shoes and go around the rocks from the left as you can get a great photo of the rock from this vantage point and also explore the rock pools and caves.

We kayaked out - (another review) and it was ok but nothing special to see. I could have missed out on seeing it. Or had a quick look from the land and that would suffice.
