There is a wealth of information available in this museum and the staff are very knowledgeable too. We found it very interesting.

Great little museum! Well worth the price of £4 each to see beautifully presented exhibits enhanced by volunteers who clearly love their job. Loved it!

Visited here yesterday 6/10/22.
The volunteer staff were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic which made the visit extremely enjoyable. I learnt loads about the history of the area, local crafts and the local people. The views were great from the upstairs windows.

The museum is a very worthwhile investment of time that brings the scenery, traditions and local trades together. There is a precious array of shipbuilders tools and techniques and some captivating stories behind the vessels from the area over the ages. A most unusual surprise was the WWII room with the stories and photos of the experiments with wacky inventions to help the 1944 Normandy landings that all took place on the beaches just outside the museum. The museum also benefits from welcoming and knowledgable staff whose enthusiasm befits the superb exhibits.
So set aside a couple of hours and lose yourself in this little gem of a museum.

Amazing treasure trove of history, facts and even fiction. The staff are so helpful and well informed. It gives Appledore so much more meaning, a real must.

What a long history is recorded here. The models and diorama's are very good, bringing that history to life.

Even better than expected - super friendly and helpful volunteer staff who really brought the museum to life. Lots of interactive exhibits and attention to detail. Don't miss the cheesey photo op in the garden!

We had a very nice experience touring this museum. The volunteers were well informed and the museum is well organized as during COVID they took the time to improve the museum. There are a couple of films for viewing, one about the replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship which was built in Appledore. There are some working models, one of a steamship engine, another of rope manufacture, which are interesting. We didn't know anything about preparations for D Day which happened here - another educational experience for us.

I would say this museum is not wheelchair or scooter friendly as it is on 2 floors (no lifts) and the door widths would not be big enough. I can't remember if if there are steps up to the entrance or not.
