This museum is constructed in a restored traditional family home in central Archanes. The rooms include a traditional kitchen, a bedroom and a living room, all laid out with historic artefacts, furniture, folk crafts and costumes that featured in traditional family life. A small courtyard garden is a delightful spot to rest. There is also a small shop selling local crafts, spices, oils and wine.
The curator has a detailed knowledge of the many items from his own family collection and loans from local heritage societies.
The museum is free but donations are welcome.

We went to visit this small museum which is full of extraordinary Cretan heritage which takes us back to the past.
The welcome is warm and the owner of the museum speaks very well
English. The store is overflowing with local treasures at reasonable prices.
It is an enchanting and magical place. The exterior is flowery.
The detour is worth it. We highly recommend it.

A wonderful experience, a journey back in time. A great selection of antique objects, mainly private, with great taste for details. There is also a possibility to buy local products in the small shop. Certainly worthwhile my visit! Keep up the good job!
