【Impression】 I came to Yokoteyama on the Shiga Kusatsu Kogen Directions via Shiga Nakano Toll Road from Shinshu Nakano IC.
Yokoteyama is said to have the highest ski resort in Japan at 2,307 meters above sea level, and will open next month.
The skyrator was running one-way alternating, so I had to wait a while. They say they will be closed during the ski season.
The autumn colors and view from the slow-moving skylight are amazing!
The connecting skylift was quite steep. At the top of the mountain is the 2307 Manten View Terrace and the famous Bread Summit Hütte, where you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Manten Terrace and the hot water pot from the triangulation point near the shrine. You can come to 2,300 meters in everyday clothes and the summit is flat, so Yokoteyama is an easy mountain to come to.
From here, we drive to the kettle where smoke is coming out to Kusatsu Onsen and the national highway sign at the highest altitude in Japan.

After being disappointed at the highest bakery in Japan, we moved on. The approach is from Shiga Kogen, which is on the other side of the mountain from the previous summit. Take the one-way escalator to the middle of the mountain and then take the lift to the summit. You can enjoy the view.

We were driving from Kusatsu Onsen towards Shiga Kogen on National Route 292, also known as the Shiga-Kusatsu Kogen Route. A few kilometers past the highest point on the national highway, we came across Yokoteyama Drive-In along the highway and parked our car in its car park. Our destination was Yokoteyama Skyrator.
This Skyrator is the highest outdoor escalator in Japan, and by taking the Skyrator and the lift, anyone can easily reach the summit of Mt. Yokote. Unfortunately, it was out of service when we visited in late May, but we could still enjoy the spectacular view from in front of the Skyrator.

国道292号沿いの「のぞき」という所にドライブインや喫茶店があり、その近くに乗り場と切符売場があります。
ペイペイが使えます｡
日曜日は上りのみで、渋峠へ抜ける片道切符（2,000円）が売られていました。
スカイレーター入口の標高は2,060メートルです｡
ここからスカイレーターは2,110メートルの地点のスカイリフト（横手山第三スカイペア）乗り場迄連れて行ってくれます。
遠くには妙高山や焼山も見えました。
手前には、笠ヶ岳と、千曲川と長野市街地も上から俯瞰するように眺められます
渋峠からは無料のシャトルバスがこちらの乗り場迄送ってくれます。

バス停「のぞき」下車、スカイレーターとリフトで横手山山頂を目指します。急坂にある「動く歩道」で上りと下りを交互に運転するため、5分程待つことがあります。横手山山頂まで往復1800円ですが、クレジットカード払いだと係員が扱いに慣れていないため処理に時間がかります。

通常は、横手山スカイレーターに乗ってリフトを乗り継ぎ、横手山から渋峠側に降りて、シャトルバスでスカイレータ乗り場に戻る一周コースができるが、コロナ禍の為、バス運行なし。よって、スカイレーターとリフトの往復をしました。スカイレーターは、1台のみなので、上りと下り両方の運行です。なので、下る時は、上り運行を待って、下りました。ニッコウキスゲが咲き、晴天の中、気持ちのよい10分でした。PAYPAY払いができるのに、驚きました。

経年しているのか、ちょっと乗りづらいですが、山の斜面に「動く歩道」があるというのは面白いですね。リフトとセットで1500円というのもはリーズナブルです。

以前訪れたときは山頂往復でしたが、今回は周遊コースになっていました。
動く歩道やリフトで山頂へ展望台からの眺望は最高ですね、風も強かった。
神社や、三角点を散策しました、帰りは長いリフトで渋峠へ下山そこからシャトルバスで横手山駐車場へ

動く歩道のスカイレーターからスカイペアってリフトに乗り換えて山頂へ。山頂には、日本一高いとこにあるパン屋さん。そこからロマンスリフトってのに乗って下ってくると、真ん中から長野と群馬に分かれてる渋峠ホテル前に。シャトルバスでスカイレーター乗り口まで帰ってくる、ぐるっと一周コースが楽しいです。9月のはじめ、山頂にはリンドウが咲いててきれいでした。2307ｍの山頂は、とっても涼しくて居心地が良かったです。
