智頭往来沿いにある江戸時代の旧家。
20年程前に訪問していましたが、ほとんど記憶は残っておらず、実質初訪問。
想像以上に大きな敷地と立派な建物にびっくり。
江戸おＫ時代の庄屋の経済力は相当なものがあったのだと再認識しました。

This is a massive old Japanese residence with tons of character and history. There's a beautiful overlook of gardens that've been wonderfully preserved.

This old residence was owned by the same family for generations. The bedrooms and tea rooms are kept traditionally but with information for visitors. The gardens are impeccably kept by a third-generation gardener. Every room is beautiful. The garden is old enough to have been visited by samurai, and old wood carvings have been preserved for generations. It is a must-visit location.

The Ishitani residence is very good place for everyone who love Japanese history. After you go into the house, you can feel like time traveled to the Edo period. There are a lot of story inside this place.

It was a great place to stop buy. The guide is a 3rd or 4th generation caretaker.You could feel his connection to the estate and kindly answered all of my questions. I love gardens so it was a great to see a private garden made for noblemen traveling through during the samurai days. It was a remarkable feeling to Veiw the calm garden with the background noise of a small waterfall.

The Ishitani Residence is filled with history. The whole tour at the house would be good experience if someone is there to tell you the story behind the rooms and things inside the house. If not, they hand out flyers in English. The house has a magnificent garden too! It gives you the complete, authentic Japanese residence tour experience.

The Ishitani Residence has storehouses and rooms dating back to the Edo period, as well as traditional architecture and cultural exhibits. The gardens there were beautiful and relaxing, and the woodwork was fascinating. It is not nearly as large as a museum, so it can be a great short stop on a trip. However, with its relaxing garden and spacious rooms, it can also be a great place to relax for a longer visit.

Not only magnificent historic mansion it also has stunning garden I’ve never seen.
I was impressed by the beautiful view of garden I saw from one of the rooms! The gardener who manages the garden is a very fun person. I highly recommend you to go there and talk with him!:)
