The two-hour Norfolk Wildlife boat trip on 26 July was our best Norfolk boat trip, and we did a lot! Amazing bird hides, saw avocets, terns, spoonbills, grebes. Climbed up a vertiginous tower with views across the landscape (optional!). Walking trails through the reserve and excellent modern visitor centre and picnic area, and ample parking. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Only regret that we did not have time on our holiday to return and spend another day here. Need to book boat trips in advance.

We visited Hickling Broad several times during our short holiday in the area. It is a good place to find birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Despite the weather not being wonderful we still had some very good sightings. Sadly we missed the Swallowtail butterflies so we hope to visit again in the future.

We visited the Norfolk Wildlife Trust sight as part of their butterfly day. It gives you the chance to see the rare Swallowtail butterfly which is beautiful.
A lovely boat trip is available also for an extra charge but you need to book in advance, a very enjoyable experience. There are a number of walks and hides to visit in order to check out the abundant wildlife as well as a very good shop and picnic area

We were lucky to be in time to book on to a boat trip, not sure what to expect but thought it would be nice to sail around the marshes. The walk to the boat was really pleasant and easy. The boat was a small electric boat, so it glided very slowly and quietly through the marshes where big boats can't get. An absolute delight, plus we stopped off at a hide for a while to admire the wildlife. After our trip, we had a picnic in the grounds, lovely afternoon.

We intended to walk in the wildlife centre but saw a boat trip about to depart and decided to go on it instead. I am so very glad we did. The trip which lasted about an hour, was excellent. We were all given lifejackets and the man in charge of the boat, Jim, took the boat gently around the very large Hickling broad, stopping en route at two hides, where my son and his wife enjoyed seeing the wide variety of birds. As we cruised, Jim answered our many questions about the Broad and its wildlife and made the trip very interesting. My sister is disabled and uses an electric scooter but she was able to leave the scooter at the landing stage and was helped onto the boat - so the trip was a rare treat for her.

Only very basic food and drink available. Walks well signed. Saw little of interest as the reeds were so high on most of the paths. We phoned the day before to find out about boat trips. The boat had broken down, but they said they would let us know the next day, which they failed to do, and it was still broken, very disappointing.
