“Lovely but....”

มันเป็นปราสาทที่น่ารักจริง ๆ แต่มันไม่คุ้ม 9 + เดินไปรอบด้านบนของมัน ซึ่งจะใช้เวลาประมาณ 10 นาที 15 ถ้าคุณไปช้าจริง ๆ วิวจากคูเมืองมันเกือบจะดีกว่าดูแล้วจากภายใน

Key Event in British History

Framingham Castle is in fact a ruin with only the outer walls still surviving. Nevertheless it is an interesting historical site which has seen key events in history take place. I enjoyed the trip there and the staff were well informed and very helpful. Well worth a visit.

Found this place on map and saw there was a castle. We did the guided tour with Simon really great. Knowledge and delivery excellent.

Dog friendly, good food, beautiful area!!!

Second time coming here and it was even more beautiful. Staff were very friendly. So much greenery, moat was beautiful, bodies of water looked exquisite from above. Dog-friendly too, even round the insides of the castle and even in the overlooking bits. 100% recommend.

Outstanding Example of Tower and Curtain Wall Design!

With 13 towers and an almost complete wall walk, Framlingham Castle is in a class of its own. Mary Tudor was proclaimed the first queen to rule in her own right here. The earls and dukes of Norfolk managed to build, lose and regain the castle (several times!). So much history - worth buying the guide book and spending some time in the museum, as well as walking around the walls and grounds, inside and outside.

The free audio guide is useful but the information boards, with their pencilled additions to photographs, make good sense of what you see. Especially helpful because most of the buildings which were attached to the walls inside the castle have disappeared.

The Howard Dukes of Norfolk are not buried here, but some are buried in the local parish church, just along the road - so go there whilst you visit the castle.

Enchanting step back in time

It is worth planning and pre booking your tickets, if you are not an English Heritage member. No fuss around timed entry.
The castle car park was really reasonable, if you can get a space and at £3 for the whole day is very reasonable.
The castle itself is dog friendly and the environs are amazing both for walking around and viewing from the castle ramparts.
There are many interactive parts inside the castle and given its history it is truly magnificent.
Really worth the lovely drive out here and the town below is wonderful to wander around.

could be a lot better

firstly I'll say that we we're glad to have visited.. it's a large impressive and inspiring building to look at and walking the top of the castle wall gives impressive views.... but that is really it.. there's nothing really within the walls other than a cafeteria plus a small museum upstairs with artefacts & information almost entirely relevant to the town of framlingham and not the castle.

we just ended our visit thinking it could be so much more and for the admission price plus parking, £32, it's to expensive.. certainly to visit with any regularity.

Couldn’t visit

Couldn’t find anywhere to park. The car park is too small and unfortunately I was unable to visit the castle despite driving an hour out of my way :( I was really disappointed. There was no parking in the town or side roads either.

This could be a significant place to visit but it's so badly done - the information provided about the castle's history and role in royal history is inadequate and very dry. The people that devise the info/visitor experience need to go visit Orford Castle and learn from how they do things there. It's an impressive setting, so if you don't mind paying just for some good views from the ramparts, then fill your boots!

Worth a trip and stay in the village for the day.

Car parking- easy and £3 for a full day

Walks-the moat and around the mere is lovely and takes you on a circular route through the village.

The views from the top of the castle are great if you're good with heights and uneven surfaces!
There were activities taking place with the walls and our son got involved in the battle. He's 11!

The staff were all super helpful. The shop was well stocked, we didn't try the cafe.
There was a great little second hand bookshop upstairs which is a great idea.

The toilets were clean and maintained.
The displays and interactions were great. All round great experience.

Wouldn’t go again, we’re EH members but family with us aren’t and found it very over priced. Said wheelchair accessible and only a small portion of it is. Lift access that you have to queue up at the shop at opposite end if building for a staff member to give you access to it and then hope its still at the too when you need it.
The external grounds are not accessible by the moat etc.
the food and drink was ok, staff not helpful and a bit abrupt. Barely filled a morning.
Framlingham itself is lovely and the near by pub did great food and was lovely.
