We were looking for a 4D3N getaway from Jakarta over the holiday and Rangga immediately went to work arranging everything for us on little more than a week's notice. He went out of his way to make sure we got to see everything on our list and made helpful suggestions for things we might want to do or see along the way while still remaining in our budget. He has a great attitude of service and fun that made our trip exciting yet worry-free.
I would definitely contact Rangga again for my next trip!

Leaving the busy capital city for a vacation usually requires flight, so this 4-hour road trip is reasonably a plus point. An expat friend recommended us to this guide and we're so glad to have met Rangga. He's very friendly and patiently accommodated every request and question to make sure we get the best with our limited budget.
He definitely knows how to get to hidden gems and spared us from the other tourists even on the New Year peak season.
Rangga arranged a 4D3N trip for us and the best time for me personally was the 1D trekking on Mount Papandayan. We were able to explore some spots that others could only view from a far and it was amazing! He knows and customizes the tracks accordingly to our capability.
Though he prepared an itinerary prior to our trip, he's also flexible and could adjust well to our time table. "It's YOUR holiday," he said.
I would definitely recommend JavaJivi Backpacker to anyone interested in exploring Garut and West Java in general.

I was looking for a local guide who could arrange a trip around Garut to visit some of the incredible local waterfalls and arrange a hike up the newly opened hiking route to the summit of Mount Sagara which I had read has an amazing sunrise panorama and I stumbled upon Rangga's website and contacted him on whatsapp. He responded quickly with good English and worked with me to design a custom tour and offered a good price for his services in arranging everything for us. He provided recommendations for a hotel and arranged a car with an excellent local driver who pulled off some amazing moves to navigate a Hiace down some of the roads to the waterfalls and the hikes. We met our local guide Dedi in Garut who also had excellent English and shared a lot of local legends with us while we drove to the different destinations. They were very accommodating and willing to make modifications to our plan on the fly and stop for us to take pictures wherever we wanted to. Rangga is a very friendly guide who truly wants his guests to have an excellent time and will work hard to make sure that your trip goes well. If you are interested in seeing some of the highlights of West Java, an area where it is very difficult to do things on your own I would highly recommend you contact Rangga and organize a tour because there are some stunning mountains to climb and waterfalls to see in that region and Rangga can arrange trips, give suggestions and take care of all of the work and logistics for you to enable you to just sit back and enjoy your tour. My personal recommendations would be to hike Mount Papandayan and Mount Sagara and to visit the Jagapati Waterfall if you have a few days to spend in Garut. You will be amazed that you have never heard of these places before and will have an experience of a lifetime.

My experience with JavaJivi was nothing short of excellent, from organising the trip through Rangga to visiting Mount Papandayan. Mpu was very knowledgeable about the volcano and took me to some amazing location that I would not have gone without a guide. They were able to pick me up from my hotel at 3am and drop me back after as a solo traveller.
I highly recommend Papandayan for anyone looking for a less touristy indonesia, go on a weekday if you can! Had the sunrise location and craters to ourselves. If you're visiting Garut or Bandung, contact Rangga and organise this, it was the highlight of my trip.

Rangga was very very helpful suggesting places to visit, givinh ideas for itinerary trip. He was an awesomely patient guide when we were hiking Mt Papadayan. He even arranged my accomodation! All I did was arrive at the place. It was one of the smoothest trip I have ever been. Blessed that Rangga was my guide-driver-co ordinator. Indeed all-on-one! No hassle!
