I loved the tour, it was very exiting.I recommend it because the experience was outstandingly amazing and fun. I really enjoyed my trip and had the best day of my life at the Roald Dahl Museum! I couldn’t imagine a better day out! I rate it five stars and really do recommend going! There were lots of different activities and games. There was a sheet where I had to find all six objects hidden around the museum! My favourite part was the room with a measuring line to see your height and wich character in a Roald Dahl book you match height with.I was as tall as the grand high witch and my mum was the same height as Mrs Twit! The museum includes Roald Dahls writing hut contents and a gift shop. I made a clay pot and went on a village tour. On the village tour, we visited the library that inspired Roald to write Matilda, we also saw lots of other places like Fantastic Mr Foxes tree!I loved it so much that now, I want to be an author! I am very inspired from Roald Dahl and his museum!!! Arianna, Age 9!👍🏻

On the face of it this looks like a great day out, but in reality you’ll struggle to spend more than an hour there. There is very little to see and very little to do. The staff where all very charming but it was a massive disappointment.

AMAZING!!!
A must see - we loved it.
It was so interesting, brilliantly interactive and fantastic for children to learn more about Roald Dahl, his characters and how Great Missenden is intertwined into his books.
Would 100% recommend.

Went with our two kids aged 11&9 and we all love Roald Dahl's books and films. The museum has literally 3 rooms to see. Interesting enough but we thought there would be more to it. Activities were more for younger children. We were done within an hour and felt disappointed by it.
It's free for Blue Peter badge holders, and blue light holders get a discount so worth a quick visit if you're nearby but not worth a longer trip.
Lunch onsite was only sandwiches and soup. But pizza place on same street was nice.

Little one really enjoyed all the exhibits and interactive displays. There were loads of crafts and activities for children and plenty of fascinating personal history to keep the big ones interested too. Friendly, helpful staff all over but especially in the onsite cafe.

Such a lovely museum and very interactive
There was a lot to do and see for the kids and lots to read. Although the rooms get crowded so if it was really busy I don’t know how good it would be

I took my two sons who are 10 and 8 in the half term. We all had a fantastic day, the museum appears small but there is lots to it and lots of interactive parts. They did the clay making activity which was also really good, the woman who ran it made it very interactive and interesting for the kids, even my 10 year old enjoyed it and he is not usually one for art/crafts. We took a picnic and they have an outside and inside picnic area which is great if the weather is bad. We spent about 4 hours there in total and would definitely return, maybe in the summer to do the village trail. The ticket price includes entry for year which I think is excellent value. All in all I would thoroughly recommend it for kids and adults alike.

We had a very enjoyable day at the museum. My boys learned a lot about the writer whose books they both really enjoy.
It's definitely somewhere you can zip through or spend a day depending on how much you engage with the activities. There was story reading, talks and clay making (the clay making came at an extra price) as well as other activities including guided tours and crafts.
Charlotte, who did the talk about Roald Dahl's hut, was particularly engaging.

I think our daughter age 6 enjoyed the museum but it was far too busy to properly enjoy and dwell on things. There are two small rooms of exhibits and an interactive room for kids. Not particularly interesting for adults.

I'm a Roald Dahl's enthusiast since I was a little girl and I'd like to visit the museum, getting there from London (I'll be in London for a short holiday, just 4 days) by train. I'd like to know if the visit is suitable for adults too, or if it is based only on children's activities.
I hope I made myself clear :)

My 8 year old loves Roald Dahl, but we live 2 hours away. Just wondering if the museum is worth the drive and if we can spend a whole day there or if it is a few hours maximum.

We spent most of the day there.
They have 2 walks that we took that are "Roald Dahl inspired" so where he came up with ideas. The main walk was about an hour.
We also had lunch - which always takes up a good proportion of the day.
If you're looking to spend the whole day there I would also suggest booking one of the extra activities and do every single activity in the rooms, otherwise you'll be out in no time.
If I'm honest though, we live just over an hour away and my daughter loves Roald Dahl, but I'm not sure I'd travel that far for it again.

I expect so, probably type in Chilterns. I believe there are holiday cottages up at Chartridge which is probably 20 mins away it is on a farm.
