這個景點似乎才開發不久，設施比較簡陋。
陽光還未照入峽谷，有點陰暗，但無損其雄偉。
據講天門大峽谷係由一個當地牧羊人發現，之後來的人越來越多，最終成為一個收費景點。
夏天時，峽谷中會有河流過，所以野草比較多。
天門大峽谷鮮為香港人所知，沿途都不見有其他香港人，清清靜靜。
峽谷岩石有明顯受冰川侵蝕的痕跡，恍如惡魔的抓痕。
整段路大致平坦，而在特別狹窄和陡峭的地方會架設樓梯，不算難行。
不經不覺，粗眉仔便行到前往「天門」的最後一段路。這段路不算太長，但地面全部都是大石頭，非常難行。
這裏不時會出現塌方，所以行過時要打醒十二分精神。
通過這堆大石之後，便是一道長命樓梯，齋睇都已經令人沮喪，不過終點近在咫尺，點都要死頂。
千辛萬苦，粗眉仔終於上到這個峽谷的終點：天門。
一如其名，所謂「天門」係一個自然侵蝕的大洞，恍如一道大拱門。
天門後是色彩鮮艷的山巒，比粗眉仔想像中更漂亮。
天門位處山坳，所以勁大風，個個都凍到騰騰震。
天門大峽谷大致平坦，地方也不大，是個老少咸宜的景點。

Très jolie promenade

Depuis le parking, il faut environ 2h30-3h pour faire à pieds l’aller-retour jusqu’à l’arche (dénivelé de 300m à 2800 m d’altitude et marche dans des cailloux et rochers). La première partie du trajet se fait dans le lit asséché d’une rivière. Le chemin monte lentement. Par endroit, des escaliers en bois ont été aménagés pour franchir certains passages. Les 500 derniers mètres sont pénibles. On a l’arche en ligne de mire, mais le lit de la rivière est très raide avec des rochers à franchir. L’escalade se termine par 300 marches d’escaliers qui permettent de gagner une plateforme offrant une vue superbe sur les deux côtés de l’arche. Cette arche naturelle est l’une des plus hautes du monde. La promenade est superbe mais il est impératif d'avoir des bonnes chaussures, un chapeau et de l'eau

Wonderful experience

Visited the place in August 2019 as a trip from Kashgar using our local travel agency Old Road Tours. Started very early and arrived just when the entry opened. Big visitor centre with a small shop (water, snacks) then one hour walk first along a dry river bed, then a bit up (wooden and metal stairs), finally several hundred wooden stairs to the arch which is comfortable however may be tiring due to heigth level and a bit thinner air. View from down is a bit misleading as to the real size of the arch - you must see and experience it by yourself. Take warm clothes (especially in the morning).

Nice Easy Hike with Very Few Tourists

There are very few attractions in China where you are not sharing your personal space and O2 with several other visitors. Shipton's Arch is reputedly the highest natural arch in the world and to get there requires that you hire a driver and hike uphill for about an hour. For most tourists, it's not worth the time and expense.

While the cost of hiring a private vehicle was high, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit in the midst of the summer. Try to arrive as early as possible. Even though the park opens at 9AM, we had to wait 45 minutes for someone to show up to open the gate. This was how popular the attraction was in the summer of 2018.

The trail up to the arch follows a wide canyon that starts out gently and gradually becomes narrower and steeper. It is very well marked and impossible to get lost. The final approach involves climbing a well-built stairway of about 300 steps.

Photos do not do justice to this amazing place! You have to see it for yourselves! We booked a day trip with China Silk Road Tours. It was a 2-hour drive from Kashgar and another 2 hours hiking up and down. The hike up was not too bad - terrain was mostly rock, with some stairs and snow/ice (in winter). I would recommend bringing snacks and water as there were no shops around. Because it was winter, my husband and I had the whole place to ourselves. It was just magical!
