This is a dense forest and sightings may be difficult in the best of times. We had taken the 8.30am - 10am safari for Murti-Chapramari WT. We had booked online through the WBFDA website and paid Rs.480/- for 4 persons. One needs to report at the Murti Beat Office by 8pm on the previous day for the morning safari. This is close to the Murti Tourist Bungalow. Photo ID cards are verified there; make sure you carry the originals. The total additional amount we had to pay there was Rs.2080/- for 4 persons including gypsy and guide charges. The forest is quite dense and green. We were taken to the Chapramari watch Tower overlooking a salt pit, where we could see a couple of wild boars and peacocks. The forest bungalow is at the same location. It may be better to skip this safari if you expect to see a lot of animals. If you want to soak in the ambience of the forest, it is fine.If you are pressed for time, you can skip this and do Jaldapara and Chilapata

Went with family , my husband , 2.9 years old daughter & In laws with expectations to see animals like Elephant & all. But the funniest thing is at the time of booking ( jungle safari) Guide addition was mandatory and tour time was only for 2 hours. Tickets you have to book through their website and rest keep & guide you have to take at the time of trip. We didn’t see any thing apart from Peacock & Wild Deer. A captive Elephant was seen with her baby. Rest entire thing was time pass.
Will suggest not to visit that place with lots of expectations. It’s simply wastage of money.

Can someone tell me can I visit gorumara with bike. .and how can I do elephant safari in goru mara...I have already checked from online it' showing not avaliable. ..please assist.

It all started with a fanfare. Gypsy , guide , incessant folklores. But evidently most visitors make "sightings " of only peacocks , Chitals , Sambars and occasionally Bisons. Rhinos, well, very rare. Good dense jungle though and 330 pm trip gives you an additional opportunity to watch a tribal dance which is pretty ordinary

There are 3 watch tower safari from Murti beat of Gorumara Forest. Jatraprasad or Chapramari can be done. Online booking to be done from WBFDC site for forest entry. The gypsy rate is exorbitant (to be paid offline at the spot) and although there is provision for 6 persons in one gypsy, they will force you take one gypsy for less than 6 persons even if there is only 1 or 2 persons. It is better to take any one ride. Guide charges per gypsy is Rs 300, a complete waste but you have to pay and he will occupy the front seat. Chance of viewing wild animals is less but the surrounding view of forest during journey in a old uncomfortable Gypsy (you have to pay from your nose) is good.

My stay at the beautifully laid out Riverwood Forest Retreat with great view of Murti river and tea garden from the room and dining hall. Walk along the trail around the water body and garden within the resort.

Opted for both Jatraprosad watch tower and early morning jeep safari. Was lucky to see bisons in both. In Jatraprosad tour,also saw wild boars, elephant,bisons. Saw barking deer, sambar deer in Jatraprosad. Apart from this saw many peacocks. Overall a fruitful experience.Also saw birds like Indian hornbill.

The trip to the jungle was an average experience . Expected the drive to be more interesting but The ride was very short . Saw few peacocks .

This trip called Jatraprasad safari involves safari on Maruti Gypsy vehicle through the forest. Various kinds of birds, deers, elephants and bisons are likely to be visible during the safari.
From the watchtower, sometimes one-horned rhinos could be spotted if lucky as they keep bait near by for the rhinos to visit. (But you need to be very lucky to spot the same)

Gorumara National Park is located in the northern part of West Bengal, India. It is a medium-sized park with grasslands and forests. It is primarily known for its population of Indian one horned rhinoceros.We went there during our Dooars tour after lockdown.
The best time to visit this place is between November and March when the weather remains pleasant and chances of spotting wildlife is also more. The forest remains closed during monsoon season.
This national park is situated near Lataguri. We did Jatraprasad watch tower tour and jungle safari tour inside Gorumara national park which has a high tourist demand. The tours are arranged in different slots. To get the forest permit for the tours one photo ID card and one xerox of the photo ID is required.Detailed video of both the tours are there on my YT Channel TravellersLens .You can have a look.
Although spotting wildlife inside a forest is totally based on luck, we were lucky enough to spot some. This was a refreshing trip after lockdown.

you cant book a watch tower for your own and in advance. You have to book your trip tickets from Gorumara NP office at Lataguri on the day of trip.

if you stay in Kalipur or Dhupjhora elephant camp you will get multiple times entrance....which is good you can go in morning time when normal people are not present...better chances..get a bionocoolr

yes there is local cab service in lataguri.. but you have to negotiate a lot for best price
