A peaceful, very serene temple away from the main road. The shrine is reputed to be 1000’s of years old. We rang the temple bell and an elderly lady- maybe the pujari’s wife- ran out to greet us and offer us Prasad. Several steep steps from this temple is the Chamunda temple which has 2 interesting features. 1. Legend has it that Narada muni acquired his knowledge of music from Shiva after meditating here
2. The sangam of the Alaknanda and Mandakini happens here. Such different colours for the 2 rivers
We are truly happy that we chose to stop and experience Rudraprayag- otherwise only known to me from Jim Corbett books

Rudranath is 4th place of Panch Kedar Darshan after kedarnath/MadhyaMaheshwar/Tunganath. It is one of the toughest trek of all Kedar where Face of Lord Shiva is worshiped. There exist 3 route to reach Rudranath.
1. Gopeshwar- Saggar(by vehicle 4 Km) - (By trek) 18 Km Paner- Rudranath.
2. Urgam - Devgram-Dhakwani_ Paner- Rudranath.
3. Mandal- Anasuya Devi- panchganga-rudranath,
Of all the three route, only route-1, one can go without Guide. Route-2 is very narrow route and steep not frequented by pilgrimage. route -3 is longer and need min 4 days from Urgam. But Kalpeshwar Mahadev the 5th Panch Kedar is near by just 1 Km from URgam by road.
After scanning few details, reached Gopeshwar on 2nd Morning at 10 AM, dumped the excess luggage in GMVNL guest house which just front on main bus stand. With few warm cloth and other thing we took an vehicle up to the Saggar village it is just 3 Km from Gopeshwar. started tredk at 10:30 AM. The starting point is near Hotel Rudra on Main road and is well demarcated by Welcome Mantap. This is the route to be followed for Ustav moorti during opening and closing. It is exactly 18 Km from this point up to Rudranath Temple. The first 1.5 Km is going through Village/ Agricultural Field with moderate gradient and paved with concrete. At 1.5 Km there is a shop for juice/ Tea/ Biscuts etc. one can take rest here for a while. For normal person it takes about 1.5 hrs to reach here.
From here upto Pana Bugyal is approx 1 Km and road is unpaved and un even. and gradient keep increasing. with bush on either side. By the time we reached Pana Bugyal it was around 12 30PM, There is a tent shed/ accommodation for night stay is available. (Rs 300 /head ) From here steep gradient starts and road is full of un

We traveled to Sagar village after returning from Tunganath to stay and trek to Rudranath. There are many stay options here cheap clean with food.
Rudranath is the toughest of all the places we trekked to. The first 10 km is steep climb and the path is basic. We started at around 6:30 am and reached a place called Pannar Guha about mid way around 4 pm. Stayed the night and then started for Rudra nath.
The second part was rather easy - 8 km a little gradient and plain walking and down hill.
We reached Rudra nath by 12 pm. Visited the temple stayed for evening Aarati . Stayed the night at the only hut there. As every where there people are treated well. As usual your diet is Roti dal rice and Maggie.
If you are not in a rush stayed back and return the next day. We started back in the morning and reached the base village Sagar by around 2 pm and headed for Kalpeswar.
Enroute dont miss the only Juice joint which is about 2 km from Start point. On our return we were surprised at the steep climb we did the previous day.
Summary: Plan for 2 days up and one day down, you will find rest places every 2 hrs or so.

This is just a brief comment to say that two very different places are being spoken about here.
As one the reviewers has pointed out, Rudranath is a temple at around 3550 meters, the culmination of a moderately tough trek starting either at Sagar, Mandal or Urgam (small villages/towns on different roads). It is one of the five 'Kedar' temples called Panch Kedar (the others being Kedarnath, Madmaheshwar, Tungnath and Kalpeshwar).
Rudraprayag is confluence of Mandakini (which is the river flowing down from Kedarnath) and Alakananda (which is the river that flows down from Badrinath), and also a town of the same name around the confluence. The river continues down as Alakananda until Devprayag, where it meets Bhagirati (which flows down from Gangotri), to form the Ganga. As you drive up into the hills from Rishikesh, Rudraprayag is the point where you turn left to follow the Mandakini up towards Kedarnath, or you follow Alakananda up towards Badrinath.
Will post a separate review on the Rudranath trek via Bansinarayan, which we undertook recently.

I went there with my friend, visited the temple first and had a nice chat with the priest who told us about the Narad muni mandir and his tapasya. you get to know things about our rich old granths how they are written and it always enriches you.
after that went to the sangam, it was mesmerizing to see both Mandakini & Alaknanda coming and meeting together. one river is calm and flowing at ease, other is showing tides, the whole environment is spiritual and the sound of water is equally great.
sit there for 20-30 mins in peace and you will do the best ever meditation..
Take caution and avoid being adventurous. must visit place

Can u pl tell me , how is the accomadation for night stay at Rudranath and Panargupha
เขียนเมื่อ 21 กุมภาพันธ์ 2020
I am 69 years old and my wife is 65. Both are intending to visit Sri Rudranath ji temple in September 2018. I have contracted Mr. Sarvinder Bist to guide us during our visit from saggar to Rudranath.
My question is - 1) whether September is the right time?
2) How the weather God behaves during September?
3) Is the route is risky and impossible to trek for Old people?
What precautions we can take because we are very much eager to visit t6he temple.
