We (the 2 of us) had a wonderful experience with mr Chris, collected us at fuji q with a van ready with gear (hiking boots, beanies, gloves and jackets) it was also so good that he could take our baggage with as well. He catered well to our interests and needs, determining what would be best to do next. The best part was being able to stop at the lakes and soak in the view, have some tea (and blankets) and take it in. Towels were even available to get our feet wet. We were able to stop for coffee multiple times, he had so many facts and info of the area. We had opportunities to hike/walk further and walk alone or with Chris. He kindly dropped us off right at our accomodation and made sure we were safely checked in. Really amazing service I would highly recommend taking this tour!

This was an amazing tour! My family of five had the pleasure of meeting Chris and Yumi while touring the beautiful area of Mt. Fuji. We started our tour with Chris and finished with Yumi. Both are extremely warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. Chris had everything we needed to stay warm at the start of our day. Yumi led us to see the shrines, lakes, waterfall, forests, and beaches. We enjoyed a delicious authentic Japanese lunch. Our daughter has a peanut allergy and we are so grateful to Yumi for making this lunch possible for our daughter to enjoy. My 3 teenagers said, "This was the best day." Thank you to Chris and Yumi for sharing your knowledge and love of the area you call home.

Mel, Sharing the last snow of the year was special. Our Winters are so beautiful here at 900-1000 meters, always fresh powder snow dressing the lakes and trees.

Absolutely profound experience – we travel to Tokyo and frankly around the world often enough, but never have we ever come across a tour guide as surprisingly warm, knowledgeable, welcoming, well-prepared, or even soulful as Chris! We cannot recommend him enough!
Right after we left the train, he waved exuberantly at us and whisked us efficiently on his affectionately named six-seater car called Olympia. Never were we in need of more amenities, toilet breaks, coffee or banter. He takes cares of and pre-empts our every need. Just the number of down jackets, hiking boots, warm gear, foldable chairs, towels etc he has in the van is testament to how well taken care of his guests are.
Chris tailored the trip to our requests. We are young and energetic and love nature. He took us off the beaten path and showed us so many trails, secret caves and incredible viewpoints. All without the hassle of fellow tourists around! His knowledge of the perfect spots for pictures was just astounding. As is his knowledge of the local geology, history, culture, biology etc.
The personal touch was amazing - sharing spiritual insights (leaning on local Shintoism), to exchanging anecdotes and life stories, to leaving us for our personal space next to Lake Saiko with Mount Fuji to bask in its beautiful glory, his keen acumen for human interaction is astounding.
We had the pleasure and honour to witness Chris in his community where he is highly respected and well-liked; but also to meet his sweet wife Yumi to whom we found very endearing too. We wish you all the best Chris and of course would never hesitate to come again, and to encourage all visitors and friends to visit you!

Absolutely the best day tour experience I've had anywhere in the world. Chris has a depth of knowledge about the Mt. Fuji area and Japan in general helped us orient our experience in Japan and enjoy Mt. Fuji and the lakes in a way I could not without him. You really get an experience as if you've found the best spots around Mt. Fuji over the years. The places you go with Chris have such depth of meaning and literally there are no tourist there. Chris is a hidden gem of a travel experience that you should take advantage of before the secret is out. You get everything. Amazing views of the mountains, shrines, caves, lakes, culture, noodles. It was such a rewarding experience.

Josh, Visiting the “secret “cave under the lava field from the 864 AD Jogan eruption is always special, but this year is especially magical seeing a village of ice sculptures under Mt. Fuji. Chris is an excellent tour guide. This tour is much more than just seeing Mt Fuji (though it's beauty is incomparable). Getting to know the area around the volcano, moving at a leisurely pace through the forests, in caves, a waterfall, getting coffee and a bowl of noodles, was wonderful.
Chris was especially helpful and accommodating when I missed my bus and had to arrive at a later time than agreed upon. The tour still felt full and unrushed.
More than anything, this tour seemed to be about being and existing with Mt Fuji and the landscape it has created, along with Chris's deep knowledge of the area.

Lily, Fujikawaguchiko has some of the most wonderful nature anywhere I think you would agree. Sitting lakeside, with a cup of tea, taking in the mountains with no one around was timeless. Thank you so much for making your way here to the mountain base. I hope your journeys bring you back. Chris

The perfect tour. Chris went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, stopped at the most incredible spots and also stopped for food and drinks/toilet breaks.
Never rushed us from any spot and had the most memorable experience in Japan so far. Hopefully we will be able to cross paths with Chris again at some point in the future. A perfect day.

I was with my husband and my two young teenagers and we all loved how we spent the first day of 2023. Chris was the nicest host/tour guide and so knowledgeable
about the forests, plants, culture, and sights around. So engaging with the kids too. We hung out by the lake with the breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji (Wish we had more time there! Beautiful and tranquil!) A boat ride is a must for next visit. We walked through peaceful and quiet forests (wish we had more time to hike longer too!), enjoyed looking at some ice sculptures, loved the dragon cave, and "forest bathing". The frozen waterfall was spectacular. We vowed to return because more time was needed to just "take it all in". It was such a special day to experience nature at its finest.

Ana, Thank you for your warm review. Now you know how special this area around the Five Lakes at the base of Mt. Fuji is. The golden glow we had briefly at the waterfall beckons you all to return. Chris was knowledgable about the area and told many interesting stories. He took us to many incredible areas off the beaten path that we would never find on our own and had no crowds. We also appreciated the extra gear provided like boots and warm layers. Would recommend to anyone who wants an in depth and personal experience on Fuji and the surrounding area.

Spencer, The frozen waterfall was extra beautiful this year with the Teru River coursing down the center. Please do this tour! If your are looking for a personable, calm, insightful experience and tour of Mt Fuji and the surrounding area don’t hesitate to book with Chris. I had such a amazing and relaxing day with him, it was as if I was hanging out with a good friend all day. Chris told me a little about his life and extensive detail about the area and Fuji-san. He was attentive to my pace and connected on a deeper conversational level. We started the day with coffee from a local friend of his who was very friendly and made delicious cocoa for me to fight the cold weather. I was also offer a honey lemon ginger tea which was very calming to drink while seated by the lake and viewing Mt Fuji and a wonderful local meal. We wondered through the forest a little to see the dragon cave and an ice cave. There were many opportunities for incredible photos and being one with nature. Ending the day we went to the Kawaguchi Asama Shrine the Goddess of Mt Fuji to pay respect and saw a gorgeous waterfall right at sunset. He even loaned me hiking boots, flashlights and reserved my bus ticket back to Tokyo. Chris went above and beyond without hesitation and made this truly and unique and one of a kind experience.

Dylan, A great day with the finest views. The secret cave with the crystal clear ice stalagmites from water slowly dripping through the lava was rather special. How fortunate to have such fine weather all day and the sun shining in the woods. Thank you for the warm review, you were really great company and it was a pleasure talking about many things.
