It was more exciting than expected. On our way to Malahat skywalk. Saw the salmon running upstream. It is seasonal. Lots of lush trees. The riverbed was dry so we were able to access tunnel under the highway and hike to a beautiful falls. It was really nice.

We walked along the stream and watched hundreds of salmon splashing and scurrying upstream to get to their spawning area. Fascinating nature.

Stayed at the campground in July 2022. The park itself is quite nice, and it was good to have a place to stay so close to the big city. But the campground needed better/more maintenance during this busy period. The sites are great, but the washrooms were often messy, sometimes out of t.p., some of the toilets were not working, and not all the showers had hot water. The lack of maintenance detracted from our stay as we were reliant on the shared washing facilities.

We were glad we stopped here on our way out of Victoria (about 20 minutes away). We only spent about an hour here, but it was lovely. We made it to one of the waterfalls (by going through a stream tunnel under the highway) and saw some lovely big trees. The parts of the park that we accessed were very well kept and very well used.

Beautiful and well maintained hiking paths. Very safe for hiking as it is steady with people (not busy on a drizzly, October day, but steady).
A bit off the beaten path to get to the beautiful falls, but again, lots of people around, so safe on the whole, despite the difficult rocky pathway and steep muddy slopes.
The salmon run through the river here, however it wasn't salmon season, but would recommend coming again during that time to see them run, as you are right on the shores and would have a great view of them.

One of the best campground you can ever visit. Beautiful and well laid out camp sites...lot of spaces between each. Lot of flush toilets, drinking water, hot shower. So we'll maintained and super clean. Don't forget to visit the small waterfall a few minutes walk....and take a dip in the pristine stream. And the best part...the place feels so remote....but is just minutes away from all kinds of facilities

The gate attendant was not friendly too business like. There was no option for serviced sites hook ups. The park staff were constantly telling us about the guest check out times. The showers were ice cold. Overall our experience was not a pleasant one.

A great place to explore. Beautiful hiking paths. Very safe to hike alone as there are always other people there too.

Excellent place for a short hike or a longer hike (multiple trails) if you like. The falls is only 5 minutes from the parking lot on the west side of the transcanada highway as you are heading into Langford/Victoria. It is strongly recommended not to try walking across the highway from the east side, high volume of fast traffic.
In the summer, try not to be the first one down the trails or you will be clearing out the spider webs for everyone else (-:

What a beautiful park, the fall colors, crunchy leaves on the path, bald eagles in the sky and the trees and the Salmon Run. Seeing the Salmon rest and then continue up stream, a amazing! The Nature House is a great Visitor Center with displays and friendly workers!

Does each party/ family has to pay for the picnic fee when using the picnic area?

I understand that sites 1A to 18C are available on a first-come, first-serve basis this coming weekend. I also believe they come available at 11:00 each morning. How early should we be there on Friday to make sure we get a site?
We wish to camp three nights so, if we secure one of the aforementioned sites, can we book it for the entire three days or do we have to line up and take our chances with everyone else each subsequent day?
One last question. We may be bringing a guest with us who will have her own tent. Will there be an extra charge for this?

I have my mum (80yo) coming from OZ to visit - just wondering if there is an easy hike to do at Goldstream you can recommend - half hour - 1 hr max?

Yes you can park by the bridge and walk back into the grove of giant Douglas Firs all along an easy walk

A call to BC Transit garnered the following information: they can get you to within a ten minute walk to the park. That's pretty good service.
