Looks like they are back hosting guests again. Visited before covid (2019), it surely was one of the highlights of my trip to the Highlands. This is a must-see if you are in the area.

Service is a bit lacking (no restroom), but this is a working farm after all.

Unique sheepherding experience

Fascinating experience. Neil Ross demonstrates how sheepdogs herd sheep, lets visitors sheer a lamb and provides a very personal perspective on the life of a shepherd in Scotland. Amazing to watch how his trained dogs work the field. This is an experience sure to delight all ages. We visited with our Rick Steves tour group.

Leider keine Demonstration mehr. Auf Anrufe vorher auf die Nummern wird nicht reagiert. Und richtige Infos ob es noch stattfindet oder nicht bekommt man nicht, da die Homepage nicht mehr erreichbar ist. Vor paar Wochen ging es noch und es hieß dort prebook.

Sind zufällig um 16 Uhr vorbeikommen, keine Show zu sehen.

Schade wir hätten unserem Kind dies nun auch gerne gezeigt, was wir vor 9 Jahren gesehen haben.

Verstehen das es Gründe gibt warum es vielleicht nicht mehr durchzuführen ist oder kann, aber dann bitte Infos.

Watching Neil work his dogs was a highlight of our trip. Location had moved, but found next to the Highland Wildlife Park. Highly recommend!

Very nice demonstration of the dying art of sheep herding with dogs.
If you can take lightly the right wing misogynistic comments this is a great experience.
The farm is a bit hard to find and he accepts cash only

And the answer to the title: because he does nothing and good for nothing

Unforgettable and charming experience.

We had such an amazing time today with Neil and his adorable dogs. We got to help shear a lamb, played with sheepdog puppies, fed the lambs, and got to ask all the questions we could think of about the life of a shepherd. It was so fun watching the sheepdogs follow various complicated commands and do what they were born to do. I can’t believe the experience was only £12! To us it was priceless! Such a great way to sample traditional highlands culture. Thank you to Neil and family!

Love to see the dogs work the sheep!

Lovely setting and an interesting demo of the dogs working the sheep with whistles and voice commands. Watched a sheep being partially sheared as well. Saw a new born lamb and puppies!

Hätten uns gern die Vorführung angeschaut. Vorher auf der Webseite schlau gemacht, wann die Vorführungen stattfinden, So - Fr 16:00 Uhr. Man sollte 15min vorher da sein und Bargeld für den Eintritt mitbringen.

Alles gut soweit. Route extra so gelegt, dass es von der Zeit passt. Vorher noch an nen Geldautomaten vorbei.
Dann standen wir leider vor der verschlossenen Zufahrt und kein Hinweis.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

Each summer, the students from Harding University College of Education go to see these amazing dogs. Ross, his family, and of course the dogs are educational to watch, enjoyable to pet (the dogs and sheep that is), and as friendly as they come. We are able to pet the dogs and sheep and even help Ross to shear a sheep if you want. The program lasts about 45 minutes and well worth your time.
