Don't get catfished by Phu Quoc Ferry

After waiting months for the ferry schedule to open I booked 2 tickets from Vung Tau to Con Dao. I paid around $60 AUD p/p for a ferry that phuquocexpressboat.com had advertised as running every day. This is 100% NOT true. They don't run at all on Monday and only do one trip a day when they do run. Vung Tau to Con Dao on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and from Con Dao to Vung Tau on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

After purchasing tickets for the 7th May (Sunday) I received an email telling me to go on the 6th instead. When I told them that did not suit, they promised a refund in 7-10 days. That was 3 months ago and I haven't seen a cent. I have sent numerous emails since with no reply.

If you want to go to Con Dao, just fly instead. There are heaps of flights everyday for the same price as the ferry and you can book a mini van back to HCMC easily and cheaply on line.

I have been traveling through Asia for 25 years on all manner of transport and this company is now my number one for unprofessional service. It used to be the van transfer from Krabi to Phuket but even after waiting hours in the urine scented bus stop they eventually took you where you were going. Do not give this company a single cent of your tourist dollars! I don't run a website but I can't imagine it's that difficult to update it to reflect the actual services you offer instead of fraudulently misrepresenting yourself and keeping the cash for a service they were never going to provide.

A SCAM, avoid at all costs

This is a scam. The company cancelled my trip due to bad weather. And more than 1 month after that, I'm still waiting for the refund. They even stop answering me.
Avoid at all costs, awful experience.

VIP tickets

We booked thể VIP tickets they gave only water, solf drink, and swipe. They didn't provide anything to eat, don't have priority line for VIP. The screen wasn't working. It written private viewing deck for VIP tickets but everyone can go up and make so loud. Not worth with VIP tickets price. They need to improve alot to promote VIP tickets

Absolutely Appalled!

- On the evening of 15th March I booked a ticket on your online ticketing system.
- At the time of booking, the phu quoc express website stated there were tickets available for the journey between Con Dao and Vung Tau.
- I then received a message the following morning, which stated that the tickets were not available.
- On asking for a refund, I pointed out that as well as the 950,000 VND fare, I had to pay a 5% charge to pay the fare with VISA
- Phu Quoc Express (PQE), then refused to return this
- I then pointed out that I should not be taking responsibility for an error on PQE’s booking system – it simply should not be possible to book a ticket that does not exist or at least the functionality should not be there such that the customers have to pay card charges for a ticket which does not exist – this is extortion at best.
- After emailing 3 or 4 times I failed to get a response or even an acknowledgment of this
- Upon arriving at the Vung Tau ticketing office I was met with similar resistance – that I would not be entitled to a full refund for what I had paid
- I was then told after making it clear that I wanted a full refund that this would not be possible
- Further to this, I was informed that since I had complained to PQE, I would now only be entitled to half the refund amount, with no logical explanation about this given
- Upon calling the ticketing agent again, I was then told that I would receive the ticket on 21st March – this did not happen.
- In summary I’ve been extremely disappointed at how PQE have handled what should have been a fairly simple refund, for a ticket I never received.

We went to their ticket office in the middle of the day but it was deserted and nobody spoke English. Tried to book online & after trying to negotiate the Vietnamese only website for Condaoexpress.net , we got on to Phuquocexpressboat.com which took (& confirmed our booking) but could not accept overseas credit cards. The day of sailing we received an email to say the boat is sold out! Thankfully we could cancel our accommodation on Con Dau.
This is not what I would expect from a leading tourist venture and is damaging the hundreds of businesses on the island.

Trước giờ hay đi tàu express nhưng lần này đi cảm thấy thất vọng với thái độ cọc cằn của nv nữ trên tàu số 8. Thái độ với khách nhăn nhó ko thiện cảm một chút nào từ giờ sẽ không đi tàu này nữa.

The ferry company is a big company, but its webpage was designed terribly. The webpage does not accept the payment through international credit cards. I have called the hotline several times, but no one picked phone. There is a chat; I chat with several staff. It seemed that they were not trained so that he/she couldn't respond specific questions. He/she responded 1 question, then disappeared.

Sehr angenehme Art vom Festland auf die Insel Phu Quoc zu kommen oder umgekehrt ! Die normale Klasse ist völlig Ok die 1 Klasse ist mit 500000 Dong zu 340000 Dong deutlich teurer aber völlig berechtigt ! Ist schon imposant wie schnell das Boot über das Wasser vorwärts geht ! Service war freundlich und hilfsbereit !
