Dear Rodney,
we came to your attention through Tripadvisor. Actually we (Frank, Silvia, Lasse 5 years and Mats 2 years) wanted to travel from Kandy directly down south to make a safari and have a relaxed beach holiday.
But since your suggestion "to experience the real Sri Lanka" sounded so exciting and eventful, we changed our planning.
We discussed everything with you and the next day our 8 day trip started with you.
On our tour you told us about your country, its history, culture and you showed and explained us a lot on the way. Our children had a lot of fun with you! This made our trip easier and more enjoyable. You planned the tour according to the needs of our children, so that we all have enough time to relax and enjoy every day. So you had to slow us down from time to time ;)
We thank you for the super beautiful adventure tour and that you bring us closer to your country, the culture and the people. You are a great person wholove and live for your country. Nice to have met you and we wish you all the best.

Rodney Perera est un homme très gentil, à l'écoute de nos désirs d'européens (besoin nutritifs, désirs de visites, etc), il a su nous montrer l'authenticité qui est restée dans ce pays qu'est le Sri lanka, ma femme et moi sommes ravis de sa prestation.. Il parle beaucoup, et à une grande connaissance de son pays qu'il adore en plus de cela.. Notre trip n'est toujours pas terminé, mais vu les endroits du pays qu'il nous a montré et que l'on aurait pas pu voir seuls, en train ou en bus.. Nous en sommes ravis et sommes content d'avoir visité les endroits dépourvus de touristes qui sont restés authentiques.. Merci pour ce trip

I found Rodney Perera at the Tourist Information Center in Kandy.
We planned together an 5-day trip throughout the beautiful country with a scenery landscape.
The trip included a spectaculartrain trip, walk-around at a tea estate, elephant safari and visiting several historical sites/temples etc...
Rodney tried to go a little bit outside the normal tourist route. He also arranged good accomendation to reasonable prices.

Eine Freundin hat uns eine Tour mit Rodney empfohlen. Er hat uns pünktlich an unserem Hotel abgeholt und die Fahrt ins kultur- und naturreiche Landesinnere ging los. Gleich am Anfang haben wir erkennt, wir tief Rodney mit seinem Land verbunden ist und uns an all seinem Wissen teilhaben ließ. So haben wir alles Mögliche über die Geschichte dieser Insel erfahren. Besonderen Wert legte er immer darauf, dass wir die verschiedenen Klimazonen anhand der Kräuter, Früchte, Gewürze (Sri Lanka ist ein botanischer Garten) und... erkennen :)
Auf der Fahrt durften wir auch immer wieder davon kosten, Mangos, King Coconut, Maiskolben... um auch den Tag gut zu überstehen :)
Rodney ermöglichte uns zahlreiche wunderschöne Ausblicke und Erlebnisse, abseits der Touristenattraktionen, um das wahre Sri Lanka zu sehen (oftmals kostenlos).
Dadurch hatten wir die Möglichkeit Elefanten (am Straßenrand!!!) zu sehen sowie in einem Kloster zu übernachten.
Alles in allem hat sich Rodney immer super um uns gekümmert und alles organisiert. Inklusive der Übernachtungen, in denen wir Reis und Curry, mit Zutaten aus dem eigenen Garten, bekommen haben.
Ein Highlight war der Fruitlunch im Baumhaus!
Wir können ihn auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen!
Auf der Fahrt durften wir auch immer wieder davon kosten, Mangos, King Coconut, Maiskolben... um auch den Tag gut zu überstehen :)

Put away your Lonely Planet when you travel with Rodney from Sri Lankan Tours Holiday - he took us on a journey of a lifetime exploring lost cities, ancient ruins, sacred Buddhist sites, tea plantations - explaining the history, customs, flora, fauna, lifestyles - in fact Rodney's knowledge of his beloved country is obvious from the first kilometre travelled. Our trip had many highlights thanks to Rodney's enthusiasm and capable approach. He was great company, considerate,careful driver and allowed some "down time" in the day which we appreciated. We would highly recommend Rodney to any traveller keen to see the real Sri Lanka - a stunningly beautiful country.

We (couple) met Rodney Perera when we came to the tourist info in Kandy. As there was a big railway strike, we just wanted to get some information about the status and if trains would be running. As this was not the case, we had to make a plan for the second week of our stay in Sri Lanka.
Rodney gave us very useful advice concerning all possibilities for our further travel, regarding buses and itineraries etc.
Also, he made a promising proposal to take a driver to visit Yala, Nuwara Elia, and Adam’s Peak. He suggested to carry out the trip by taking accommodations that he organised, being at a reasonable price, and where also the driver can stay.
He convinced us to take the tour (but he did not push us to do so), as it sounded reasonable and fairly priced - although we normally travel self-organised and don’t do organised trips.
The next morning the driver arrived to pick us up from the hotel, and - lucky surprise - it was Rodney himself, which he hadn’t told us the day before!
So we started our tour with a scenic drive to Tissa, where we did a whole day safari the next day, and we were very lucky to see three leopards! Rodney organised the tour at a fair price with a very good Jeep driver, and operated himself as a spotter - that was a great trip!
The next morning we continued to Diyaluma waterfall, where we walked up to the top, and where there are several water bassins you can swim in. We stood the night at the only accommodations there, which is quite shabby, but the direct view to the waterfall is fantastic! In the evening, after a thunderstorm with a lot of rain, we again walked to the now impressively grown fall, wow!
On day 4 was tea time: Nuwara Elia, Lipton’s seat, and a guided tour and tasting at Blue Field Tea factory. Magnificent landscapes, and Rodney dropped us at several places to walk a bit and catch us up again- he always knew the best places to walk and take pictures, great!
The following day we went to Dalhousie for climbing Adam’s Peak, again lots of tea and walking and great photo stops!
As planned, the next morning we climbing Adam’s Peak, perfect scenery, few peoples only in October, very quite and calm!
The last day of our tour Rodney brought us to Negombo.
All in all, we enjoyed the trip with Rodney very much, he is an excellent, careful and far seeing driver, cared a lot about us, and organised everything in a perfect manner!
The chosen accommodations were ok (except at Diyaluma, which he told us before, but there is no alternative if you want to stay there).
Rodney is very reliable, attentive, has enormous knowledge about culture and history, and - important - he was very enthusiastic and motivated to share his knowledge with us!
He himself loves nature very much, which we could feel all the time during his explanations!
We really learned a lot in the days with Rodney, and can only recommend to take a trip with him! He showed us Sri Lanka beyond the main tourist streams and brought us to more hidden places, which was absolutely wonderful!
So should you ever be in Kandy, visit the tourist info there and check yourself!

In Kandy, we decided to take a tour to experience Sri Lanka nature. Rodney persuade us to use his service instead taking a train and it was good choice. I've strongly recommend him as guide and skilled driver. We have been impressed by his knowledge and attention to details. He was patient and flexible. His concept of the the trip meet our expectations. It was a fruitful experience.

I was so happy to meet Rodney from Sri Lanka Tours Holiday who gave me the best opportunity to experience the best of waterfalls and to see the best tea planting area in Sri Lanka. Thou it was unpresent with the falling rain in the mountains. But because of the Rodney, I had best time in Sri Lanka with nature. Never thought that this island has such a diversity.

We arrived in Kandy after 2 days in Colombo. We went to the tourist information to get a map. We already had our accomodation booked and had a loose plan for the rest of our trip. We met Rodney there and he suggested a different itinerary and offered his services as a guide/driver for a reasonable rate. We were in initially unsure as we were used to travelling independently but decided that he proposed a better option.
Rodney's knowledge of the country's history, flaura and fauna was amazing. We were also struck by his love of his country and his desire to show a variety of sites, not just those that were popular.
His English was excellent and his driving was safe.
We had a fantastic holiday and would wholeheartedly recommend Rodney's services.
