We visited Athens for a couple of days and a friend told us to visit this seminar. They run ancient legionary seminars too. They told us to choose a greek kingdom to serve as a mycenean warrior from an ancient map. After that, we spoke ancient greek by reading from the Odyssey some verses. After that they showed us the weapons of the ancient greeks and then we started to learn basic combat techniques with spear and shield and with a sword. We used wooden weapons and the children foam weapons. At the end we got dressed as ancient greek warriors and took photos in front of a big ancient Mycene wall painting. Amazing!
I know now how the ancient greeks of the iliad lived, spoke and trained.
Ask for Christopher. He was our instructor.
Next time when we will be again in Athens we will take the legionary warrior seminar.
