I came here when visiting my mate from Uni. My mate and I struggled to find a place to park, so walked up to Clun Castle from the village. There are good views from the motte of the surrounding countryside. There are some information boards which tell you about the history of Clun castle.
Unfortunately there is not much here as only about 1/4 of the keep remains (which is poor condition). The property is not very accessible for those with mobility issues and you need to be careful where you walk as there is lots of dog poo.

A stiff walk up from the rather small main car park - although parking at the village hall isn't far away if you are mobile. There are great views but their sint that much of the castle left.

Park for free in the Clun village car park then cross the little foot bridge and walk around the huge earth mound and you will see the castle remains but watch out for the dog poo every where.
Climb the castle mound to gain a nice view.

Walked the dogs from the White Horse Hotel, what a beautiful location, the castle ruins looked amazing in the setting sun.

Clun Castle is just situated at the edge of the village. Interesting ruins. Walk around the area where you are able to view what used to be the moat

Just a short walk from the village to see amazing views and learn about the history of the area. Suitable for children and slow walkers.

Worth a visit, if in the area, but not very special. Free, so great if you are on a budget, and the village is very picturesque. AN ice cream by the river is great on a hot day.

So that was the only place on my 2020 summer Shropshire holiday, which I could not visit properly. I parked in (in a tiny car park, where people drive around to wait someone to leave) and walked through a little bridge to a field. Then I started to walk to the castle on a path, but found that I am not young and fit for that hill path, so I knew couldn't do that. I then waked into the town on the tiny slope streets and found that the castle real entrance is from the town. because it was uphill and too many uphill streets, (no parking availability) I just turned back to the car park and left, It wasn't worth that so many energy to put in seeing another ruin. So I warn now everyone, that the entrance is from the town, but parking is somewhere down. I am sure it a nice place, especially for younger or fitter people, I just did not have enough patience and energy to find a right way.

Plenty of parking near by and easy to find. Beware though it is quite a hike up ( and then down ) some uneven paths and sturdy shoes are recommended. The view from the top is worth the climb just a shame it is all barricaded off now so you can't get into the actually ruins .

If you like castle ruins this will probably be up your street. We visited out of season and plenty of space in the car park and parking was free, public loos in the car park were partially open and clean too.
