The exhibits are as always informative, inviting and enjoyable. It is so important we all learn about conflicts and their history.
The dolls house replica is a beautiful piece of social history!
My only slightly negative comment is that the portable seats were only available in one exhibit. I would have benefited from having one that I could use for the whole museum.
But it would not stop me coming again.

The most incredible museum, with the wonderful Davey at the helm. What this man doesn’t know about the real stories of Blair Mayne… this is who to see. So good to find someone so genuinely dedicated to keeping these ww2 stories alive for future generations.

One of the best military museums I've ever seen. If you are interrested in military history, it is a must. David knows nearly about every artefact the whole history and backgrounds, and tells it with passion. There are a lot of scenes like a bombed house or trenches from the frontlife. The guided tour was so interresting, that I totally forgot to make pictures. Thank you so much for this amazing tour through your museum. And I hope you will find soon a new stay for your collection.

There are many artefacts on display but what really impressed me was the passion and knowledge of David who hangs everything together with his knowledge. Chatting to one of the young members of staff it was clear that knowledge has been imparted to a young team also.
The material exceeded my expectations, the life’s work of a man who’s passion has resulted in families entrusting him with further precious family heirlooms shining even more light on the past.

I cannot recommend this museum highly enough for bringing history to life. From the moment I entered the museum with my 6 & 8 year old grandchildren, we were immersed in outstanding, authentic, wartime memorabilia and settings. The life in the trenches settings and exhibits were utterly captivating - even down to a severed hand and booted foot, caught in fake barbed wire!
The attention to detail was incredible throughout. I am not generally a lover of museums but this experience was on a different level to any I have visited before. Josh, our personal tour guide was superb in his historical knowledge and rapport with us. No question was unanswered- and there were many questions!
Seeing authentic military weapons, rare vehicles and tanks, soldiers’ paraphernalia etc at such close quarters and not inside glass display cases, gave us a sense of immersion rather than just spectators.
Being allowed to use the morse code machine and climb inside a rare Irish armoured tank was such a treat for the children. But the absolute highlight for them was being allowed to ‘operate’ the anti aircraft gunner.
We will never forget the amazing adventure we had today at this outstanding museum. It is truly a hidden gem in our cultural heritage for both current and future generations.

An absolutely outstanding resource for all our year 10 pupils to help them learn about WWI, the stories of so many local people bring the topic alive in a way like no other! The artefacts on display are remarkable and the opportunity to handle and interact with the evidence is just fantastic! David’s knowledge and passion for this history is tangible and infectious. Ballyclare High School- history department.

Absolutely brilliant display - so much original stuff. Apparently they have to move out of their current premises and can't find alternative ones. It would be such a shame if these exhibits are put into storage never to be seen again. If anyone can help them please do as it is one of the best military/war collections I have ever seen.

Out of the many military museums I have visited, this was easily the best. Because of its extensive collection, it provides the most authentic experience possible. Having collected artefacts and memorabilia since the age of 8, David has done justice for the men and women who endured the most brutal conflicts in human history by bringing their stories to life and putting a face to the statistics.
Nowhere else have I seen (or will I ever see); an MG42 from Omaha Beach, a Bofors and a Polsten AA Gun, Vickers and Lewis Guns, a road-worthy willys jeep, signed copy of Mein Kampf, Reinhard Heydrich's silver chalice, and Blair Mayne's uniform and equipment all under the same roof. Spent 4 hours there during my first visit and 5 during my second, and still haven't seen half of the collection.
I just found out that funding has run dry for this unforgettable experience because it is a charity and my heart is broken. It is imperative that we find it a permanent home and keep this collection open and available to the public eye; to remember the sacrifices of the 'Lost Generation' and the 'Greatest Generation', and to acknowledge the dedication that has gone into their commemoration.
Now, more than ever, and in this country more than any other, we need that educational reminder of what we as a people are capable of achieving in the face of the extremest of adversities. In the words of David himself: there is more that unites us in this country than divides us. Please do not let this experience be forgotten.

Well, what can I say? I have something of a remedial interest in military history but tend not to go to history museums if I can help it. My brother all but dragged me along to this and I'm now glad his will prevailed over mine. I have been, despite my limited interest and knowledge of both World Wars, to a number of museums commemorating these events and I can say I have never before seen as formidable a collection of authentic, first-hand items gathered from various locations across the globe in one relatively small space, each with its own story dating back to World War One or Two.
I spent over five hours (yes, five!) in awe as I gazed at each of the exhibitions on display. Couple this with the curator, David's, seemingly endless knowledge of the war and you have yourself a first-class experience in tourism. Other museums just haven't and tend not to provoke the same sense of surreality on account of their exhibitions being loaded with replicas of the Wartime paraphernalia, not the real thing. The War Years Remembered warehouse provides a much more engaging experience as the visitor can behold actual trinkets from both wars, and consider the story behind each. Holding a real decommissioned Lee Enfield certainly invigorates the soul much more than a replica would. Standing by an actual Willy's Jeep, with a still-functioning horn I might add, is enough to make one's hair stand on end. At least, Storm, the dog, would agree.
I travelled 30 miles to visit this warehouse with my Granda and brother and we received the same reception you might expect for a party of history enthusiasts. David, who single-handedly has collected or bought each of the wares in his exhibition, walked us through the best part of the exhibition regaling us with stories of how certain prizes came into his possession or who used to own certain pieces. I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone, but some significant names from the Second World War appear throughout.
Despite all this, it was just the three of us who turned up to visit this museum today. It operates on public donations and funding but the funding has run out. The interest appears not to be there and money is spent elsewhere. For some reason, despite the photos displayed above, this "museum" does not actually qualify as a museum and is, instead, categorised as a charity, one that is grievously under-funded. The owner of the warehouse wants David to vacate the premises and with nowhere to go, there is a startling possibility, likelihood even, that all of what I witnessed today will go into storage to be forgotten forever. So, I feel it is my duty as a recent patron to spread the word where I can and encourage people to support this deserving place of history and of education. This man has devoted a lifetime to this pursuit and I vouch for it being an exhibition well worth your time and, especially, your donations!

No ‘official’ opening times. Contact them via email / phone. They are very obliging and will try to accommodate you as soon as possible. I phoned on the Monday morning, got no reply, but they did phone me back within the hour and we were able to arrange a visit for the next day

Go to War Years Remembered Facebook page for more up to date details..and to contact Davy McCallion..There is a donation requested of £5 per person but I always give what I can as the collection must cost a fortune to keep up..well worth every penny..a labour of love and totally amazing..hope this helps.
