Located in the campus of Academia Sinica, the small museum is affiliated to the Institute of History and philosophy, a research center with international reputation. it only opens on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Though the scale is small, the value of its collection is astonishing. It is believed that its value is second only to the National Palace Museum in Taiwan.
The most outstanding features are the rich unearthed cultural relics from the ruins of Yin (14th- 11th century, BC), rare texts from the Sung, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the archives of the Imperial Secretariat and court documents of the Qing Dynasty, and archaeological discoveries from Taiwan.
Although it is a research museum, its design and displays meet the standard of a modern museum. The layout and design is advanced, well organized and friendly to visitors. Some parts even include exhibition arrangements suitable for elementary school kids.
If you are an archaeology lover or history buff, it is worth a special visit. Free admission.

Chinese history dates from the Neolithic (new stone age) era. China is the world's oldest continuous literate civilization, going back 5,000 years. The Academia Sinica's Museum of History and Philology has numerous artifacts, but its intention is to put the artifacts into their social and historical context. As anyone with even a passing knowledge of Chinese history can tell you, China's history is dauntingly complex. The great dynasties, like the Han and Tang dynasties, were interspersed by long periods of disruption. If you wish to understand Chinese history, this museum is a good place to start.

This is not a well known museum, and is clearly off the beaten track. One of the several museums on the campus of Academia Sinica (near the Nangang MRT station - take a cab from the station, is about 100-120 NTD). Only open only Wed and weekends: and Wed is an excellent time to go since you will have the museum to yourself. And what a collection! Stunning display of various top tier (i.e. National Treasure level) artifacts in both the permanent exhibition as well as the special exhibition on Eastern Zhou bronzes. Nice environment and fairly detailed explanatory notes. Not to be missed for lovers of Chinese culture and history

人非常少，周日一早开馆过去，参观了大半天估计参观者十几个人左右。可惜这次没能赶上周六参加导赏。另外展馆面积有限，相信还有很多未能摆出来或者要分批摆出来。

台北市内からのアクセス（ＭＲＴとバスを乗り継ぐかタクシーを利用する必要があります）には難点があり、また週二日の公開と限定的ですが、「陳列館」という名称から受けるこぢんまりとしたイメージとは裏腹に充実した展示で、一級品の数々を見学できます。入場料も無料です。歴史に関心があるならぜひ訪問すべき場所です。

文物陳列館的開放時間只限週三與週六的上班時間，所以作為博物館的知名度不足，除非學界或者學校安排活動，否則鮮少有一般觀光客。但是館藏的甲骨文，商代文物，漢簡，檔案文書，都是最豐富的，導覽水準也還不錯，其實很推薦前往參觀。

史学界中赫赫有名的中研院史语所，其发掘的殷墟和居延汉简堪称二十世纪初世界级的考古重大成就。在久闻其大名之下，在台期间特来此地朝圣。馆内展品之珍贵，令人赞叹！在我看来，史语所同台北故宫一样，值得一来再来。特此感谢志工邹先生(北投的国文老师)，不仅给我一一介绍了邮票里各种国宝的来历，还详细讲解了我非常陌生的碑文拓印(居然有成都武侯祠中已经被砸毁的碑文拓印)。PS，胡适纪念馆也在中研院里，吸引了不少陆客前来参观。
交通方式：搭乘捷運到南港捷運站。再搭乘 212 、 270 、藍 25 、小 12 在中研院或者胡適公園下車。
開放時間：每週三，週六。下午14點有免費導覽。

I went to this museum by accident. It has exquisite collections. It is a hidden gem in Taipei. It only opens to public on Wed and Sat. The collection from a king's tomb and on minority on SW China blew me away. The best free museum I have ever been to. Do not miss it. Since it is located in the Academia Sinica, the best way is to get off Nangang station and take bus to the Academia Sinica. Or taxi.
