The museum goes thru the evolution of sailing ships and the maritime industry. The model ships that they had were fantastic. I have never so many in one museum. They also had many exhibits that were meant for children, so that they would not get bored.

Taiwan is an island nation. It is surrouned by sea. This museum aims to improve visitors' knowledge of Taiwan's maritime heritage. It also has many exhibits connected with seagoing enterprises around the world. The museum is a place to discover the history of boats and ships. Anyone with an interest in seafaring will find the Evergreen Maritime Museum highly interesting.

A museum showing knowledge and art of boats and ships.
The exhibitions include maritime history, boat and ship models, marine paintings, maritime of Taiwan, and science and technology of sailing. The models are excellent, while the paintings are average.
The museum is suitable for kids, students, and local ship and sailing lovers. However it is not a must for foreign visitors.

Eveergreen is one of Taiwan's biggest shipping companies. The museum is on the ground floor, if you are interested in ships, you will like it. The museum is adjacent to the CKS Memorial Hall.

There are not a lot of boats here, but they are interesting. The full-sized canoe, built by Taiwan's Aborigines, is outstanding, as is the Arab Dhow. Admiral Zheng He is China's most famous mariner, there's a model of his treasure ship. The Museum is adjacent to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. There's a cafe and a gift shop. The Museum is closed on Mondays.

It was by far the most expensive museum that I've been to in TaiPei (even though it was only around 7 USD). They explained to me that it was a private museum. If you like ships it is for you. 5 floors of maritime exhibits. I believe there is easily over 100 models of ships from all the times. There are also real size boats from Asia. Nice, new AC building.

I liked the museum. It is located in Chang Yung-Fa Foundation building, home of Evergreen group, the company that owns two Taiwanese jewels - Evergreen shipping company and Eva Air airline. The museum is located next to C.K.S Memorial Hall. When you exit the Memorial Hall through the main gate turn right and walk until you see the roundabout. The building is there on the right. I walked to the museum from Ximending.
I was impressed by the quality of models of Japanese and German WWII ships. There are also some authentic pieces at Titanic stand. If you visit with kids there are some interactive stands that kids would like. There is also a souvenir shop at the ground floor with some interesting items.
Overall it is worth a visit. I enjoyed it.
