Great trip. Great company.

We chose this Wild Atlantic Way SW tour because we wanted to see the beauty of the Irish countryside and coastine. We are in our seventies and lead pretty active lives but are not regular hikers so the info provided to help us prepare was invaluable.
Our guide Christopher was very charming and helpful. It would not have been the same trip without him. He made the trip into a very memorable experience as did the others in the group.
Footfalls is a premier company. I highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to experience the beauty and people of Ireland.

A trip to remember with a smile and thanks

Well the feet fell really well and, even though we had more than the usual amount of medical expertise in the group, I am pleased to say we didn't need it!! Christopher, 'Dad' or our 'Fearless Leader' made the whole trip very enjoyable and he seemed to find all the right people to make it happen.
I recommend this trip to all who want to see the real Ireland, with beautiful views and a homely welcome wherever we went.

Wonderful Week in Cork and Kerry

We've just returned from a week in Cork and Kerry with Christopher as our guide and loved it! Chris and his family helped us find our way to meet the group after our plane was delayed and we missed the van departure - we felt very cared for and were able to meet them with minimal delay. (Thanks, Teresa!) With over 30 years experience, Christopher was an excellent guide and really knows his Ireland! We stayed in darling family-owned B&Bs, each with its own charm and personal touches. Christopher was a humorous and attentive "dad" (we nicknamed him that) and we laughed a lot on this tour. Our group happened to be composed of very fun people who were were all interesting to hike and talk with - sometimes you just hit it off and we all did and fell into an easy banter with our trusty guide joining in ;). You can't beat the value of this tour and the experience and personal attention given. We hope to be back someday!

Fabulous Footfalls

Once again we have enjoyed a fabulous service on our wonderful walk along the West Highland Way. Christopher is a joy and makes you feel like part of the family. Footfalls values their clients and provide a personal touch. I can only whole heartedly recommended this company.

Great walking in the west

We had a wonderful holiday with Footfalls in July, walking in Connemara and The Burren area (incl the Cliffs of Moher and Inishmor). The walks were all great, lead by Christopher and his daughter, Sarah. We had 2 bases (lovely accommodation for 4 days in Leenane and 3 in Lahinch) and this allowed for flexibility in the schedule to fit in with the weather and maximise our experiences, visiting places that many others don't.
It was our second walking holiday with Christopher and hope to return again and see more of beautiful rugged Ireland.
Thanks to Christopher, Sarah and our fellow walkers for another great holiday.
If you are looking for a great walking experience, look no further!

Overall, two lovely days in the Wicklows

For the most part, the self-guided tour was good. Our accommodations were quite nice but we only used them for Ireland. Even though submitting our reservation in January, their partners in Wales were already completely booked for June. I was able to put together our own walking tour in Wales. So, if they tell you to book by mid-January, do it even earlier.
The maps were good and our walks were supposed to be easy but they were longer than described and the path around the lakes in Glendalough were NOT EASY. Someone coming down from the hill above the lakes said that the corkscrew road we could see from below was very rocky and the steps were not normal sized. They required big steps and it was far longer than we were told.
Directions around Trooperstown were not as well marked or described. We walked past one path as it said to look for the memorial to a walker who had been killed on that road. Unfortunately, you could not see the memorial from the direction we came from. It was only after walking past it and pulling up the map on our phones did we realize that we had probably gone too far. Sure enough, coming back from the other direction, you could barely make out a cairn or memorial of some sort and only by crossing the road and looking at the memorial closely could we tell that was where the path was.
Footfalls also had trouble finding my friend's deposit. She had to find the email receipt and send back to them.
As we are 75 and in good shape, we still felt the routes, if described as easy, should have been easier. We were told no longer than 7 miles per day and one day was considerably longer once we had the maps from Footfalls. More accuracy is needed in their descriptions.
It would have been helpful to have local taxi numbers as well.
Both of our drivers from the train in Rathdrum to Laragh and then into Dublin were wonderful people. Very friendly and helpful. And our hostess in Laragh at the Brambles was just fantastic in giving us a coffee pot for our room as we were up earlier than breakfast was served. Our room there was spacious and comfortable. Just magnificent.
Just make sure you ask lots of questions.

Thank you very much for your lengthy review. We are sorry that you found the trails to be too strenuous for you. I think if you go onto our website, you will see that the tour is marked as Easy to Modaret, not Easy. As for being 75, age has nothing to do with anything; it's all down to your own personal fitness level. I think it's great to be able to do such an activity at 75 and able to enjoy it. Wonderful experience in Connemara and Burren

Christopher, Sarah and family were kind and skillful guides on this hiking holiday that exceeded my expectations. The landscape, the accommodations, and the people were wonderful, and I highly recommend this trip. Thank you so very much for a memorable vacation in Ireland.

Wonderful family run tour. Christopher and his daughter Sarah made us all feel like extended family. The tours they led were absolutely breathtaking, even if it rained some of the days. They managed to work around the rain, and show us things most tourists don't even think of or know of. Everyone on this trip was kind, considerate, insightful, and helpful. It was absolutely beyond our expectations: from the hotels Christopher had us stay at, to the dinners they would plan for us all. It was extremely well done, and we would absolutely recommend Footfalls hiking group to our friends and family.

Great Experience!

We just finished our third trip with Footfalls. They manage to find great places to hike with only minor switches to accommodate the weather. The hotels were great as was the food. Special dietary needs were well handled. In our 3 trips we have always enjoyed the hikes and were shown some of the "tourist" sights like Giant's Causeway, an abbey, and one of Ireland's National Parks. Lots of variety with all the details handled for us. If you are looking for a good value sign up for a vacation with Footfalls Walking Holidays. Great family run business!
