Spent the day driving the loop and stoping at the various points along the mostly one-way road. Each area was unique and beautiful. There are small pull offs to admire the scenery, walking paths and of course lots of hiking! There were restrooms open at some of the areas although some things were closed this late in the season. Take the ride to the top of Cadillac mountain...and sit and enjoy the view.

This 22 mile loop around the park hits all the major attractions. We bought a CD at the visitor center that narrates the entire loop. We stopped at Sand Beach, did some hiking, drove up to Cadillac Mountain. The entire park is breathtaking. The beaches are rocky but Sand Beach. The cliffs are amazing. Beautiful day. We did the trip in about 5 hours, with a one hour hike and hitting all the major spots.

This can be done in about 4 hours seeing the main spots. You don't want to miss Jordan Pond, Cadillac Mountain, and the cliffs overlooking Sand Cove especially.
The gardens near the entrance are also worth seeing.

It is safe to say that no spots within Acadia NP will be boring. The drive all through the park will offer fantastic views and plenty of spots to stop the car to get out and look around. Take your time as you drive and use all of the pull-outs.

What can be more enjoyabel or relaxing then to sit at the edge of a lake and eat a picnic lunch.
In Oct when i vsited the temps were around 55 degrees and the sun was at hi noon.
Spent about 1 hur just fixated on Mother Ntatue beauty. Cysal clean air and crystal clean water.
Not many places with this type of natural and preserved beauty. Pictures cannot capture the beauty. A real moving experience.

미동부 해안에서 단풍명소를 꼽으라면 바로 여기일 겁니다. 해안도로가 아주 잘 돼 있어 드라이빙만으로 단풍을 만끽할 수 있습니다. 바다뿐 아니라 멋진 호수도 있어요. 볼 거리가 풍성합니다.

Yes, the whole Loop Road is beautiful and takes you to most of the wonderful attractions in the park.
BUT...One great place that has no signs so you have to find it yourself is Beaver Dam Pond. On the north end of the Loop before you get to the sea side, is this small pond. There is an easy trail around the pond. I couldn't find any information on the length of the trail, but I think is is between 1 and 2 mile and fairly level. Because it is not much visited, there's lot of wild life. Look for herons and listen for the cry of the loons. At one end of the pond is the beaver dam. You probably won't see any beaver unless you're willing to sit quietly for a long time. But as you approach the far end of the pond, listen for the sound of beaver tails slapping the water to warn of your approach. Just a quiet beautiful place to have a relaxed stroll probably all by yourselves.

There is so much more to Bar Harbour than a quaint seaside village. Beyond all the shops and restaurants, you must head out to the country and explore Acadia National Park. Whether you are a well seasoned hiker or just a passenger in a car, you can easily enjoy the beauties of this park. This loop is the route that takes you around the park. it will take you to all the neat spots you want to see such as the Sandy Beach, the Wild Gardens of Acadia and ThunderholeYou can also access the windy road that takes you up to Cadillac Mountain. If you are a hiker, you can choose from the easiest of hikes to the most difficult requiring the escalation of a mountain.
This park is the oldest in the USA east of the Mississipi river and the only park in the NE United states. The Rockefellers purchased, developed and donated much of the land. Note the granite stones placed along the edges of the road - they are known as Rockefeller teeth.
Be sure to get a hold of a map if you are planning on driving this loop as parts of it are one way only. It is best to travel the loop in a clockwise directon.
What surprised me the most about this park was that Cadillac mountain is basically as barren hill - but it does offer incredible views of Bar Harbour and the waters surrounding it.

There are places to stop and park but if it is during peak hours or busy season the lots could be full as most aren't very big.
The loop is an easy drive and the scenery is beautiful. Most of the road is one-way but you can get to Cadillac Mountain and Jordon Pond on two-way roads. So, plan your trip around the loop. Although it can all be done in one day, we spent three days (not all full days) in the park.

Not sure about tour but during May-Oct. buy passes online is a good idea because the stations that sell passes locally have specific hours. If you're not sure you'd be there during those hours, buy the 7-day passes online is definitely better. Google Acadia National Park passes.
BTW I know it's an old question but my answer should help others.
