We hiked this and devils kitchen the same afternoon. It is amazing. Such a large geothermal lake with bubbling features. Well worth the short hike - less than a mile each way.

The hike to Boiling Springs Lake is about 2.4 miles round trip, with maybe 300 feet of elevation. It’s only about a mile to get up to the lake, but the trail leads you in a loop around the lake before heading back. Over all it’s a pretty easy trail with good traction. The lake itself is really pretty, with a surprising milky blue color; it’s bubbling gently in some places, and you can definitely smell the sulfur! Much more interesting than Cold Boiling Lake. It’s worth taking the loop around the lake to get better views before heading back. The trail splits off to continue on to Terminal Geyser. Note that you can easily combine this hike with the one to Devil’s Kitchen, since they share the first half mile of trail. Definitely worth the hike, with a bonus spotting of a striped garter snake on the way back.

Lots of mud, that’s for sure! It’s really a pretty good hike to Boiling Springs Lake, it took us about 2 hrs to get to the trailhead. The sulfur smell is pretty strong, may want to hold your nose! I’d recommend an SUV. Also, be on the lookout for deer ticks. Lots of twists and turn but nothing too strenuous.

We hiked this on 8/15/18, it is a 3.5 mi, 2 to 2.5 hour hike. The hike is flat at the beginning and then up hill to the lake.
You start through the woods and end up circling a boiling lake with lots of fumaroles, mudpots and a strong sulfur smell near the lake. It you like thermal features (think Yellowstone) you'll find the boiling lake interesting, if not pass on this hike.
We enjoyed it, saw some deer in the woods and would recommend it.
Note: the ride in from Chester took 1 hour, the dirt portion of the road is rough and narrow in spots and I'd recommend an SUV (mostly for the ground clearance) to get to the trailhead.

It's quite a drive to get to the trailhead. The last 12 miles are on I paved roads. Once you park, it's an easy 1.8 mile hike to the boiling lake. Oh, by the way, it's really boiling. The perimeter of the lake is teaming with mud pots. I've been to Yellowstone and seen the geysers, mud pots and fumerols. But never have I seen a boiling lake. It was truly a wonder.

Journey to this location goes UP & DOWN. i think that's the only adventure which you will get. But when reach spot it will be not much activity in the lake.
i think we should went to bumper pass hell instead going so long this way as it more on west side.
So recommend if near chester then think of it otherwise coming from main attraction won't worth.

This was a relatively short hike and so interesting to see! You could hear the gurgling of the springs feeding the lake and see all the sulfur and minerals around. Definitely should do it.

Walked from Drakesbad. Amazing to see so much debris/fuel on forest floor given supposed effort to better manage forests. Are on the Pacific Crest Trail for a ways. Saw doe and her fawn within about 12 feet. Easy on the way back; going there is a little up but still pretty easy.

This was a fine hike, and the lake was pretty, but calling it a boiling lake is a bit of a stretch. There was one little part that was bubbling, which was still pretty cool.

We rode horseback to the lake on a 1 hour ride from Drakesbad Guest Ranch. Just enough time to get it out of my granddaughter's system. But not long enough to cause me(at 73) soreness.
