轉型為觀光漁港的型態

東石漁港早期漁獲甚豐，供應全臺各式海產，近來因港內泥沙有淤積現象而逐漸轉型為觀光漁港的型態。從每天下午2點起開始拍賣當日漁獲的市場，若時間剛好可來買海產，我們來的這天適逢農曆12月16日尾牙，漁民在拜拜漁市場空空的。這裡也可搭船到外傘頂洲，欣賞夕陽和吃烤鮮蚵。

東石漁人碼頭的戲水區不乾淨且無整治,沖腳區與沖洗室的設備多數損壞且無清潔,除了大沙坑較優,其他的軟硬體設施無法維持住該有的環境品質.

外傘頂洲體驗拾蛤人生

豐富的自然生態環境，不只是台灣最大的養蚵場所，也是欣賞夕陽的絕佳地點，搭船到外傘頂洲走走來回大約三小時，又可在船上享受當地美食加甘甜的東石蚵，好吃又好玩

Great countryside

It feels like transported back in time to the 70's. We stayed in a home stay named Chiayi Dongshi Puzi Creek Prow Sky Gift Traditional Farm Homestay. The owner Miss Xie, was very friendly. The rooms were comfortable and have all necessities. Miss Xie also prepared our breakfast herself. This was almost an abandoned town as the younger ones leave the town for city. With her younger brother as a reporter, reporting the demise of these small towns, it got the attention of the authorities and the villagers to retain the rustic feel of the town. Though some of the houses are in shambles, you can still see the traditional 3 sided courtyards. There is also a lot of activities to do there. Making your art & Craft with the materials that you gathered along the routes, making salted eggs, harvesting maize and sweet potatoes, etc. You can also cycle through the town, paddle the dragon boats and so much more. They are also famous for their oysters. Help support their cause to retain the tradition for our future generations.
