My daughter was a little nervous on arrival for her first lesson, but the friendly welcome quickly put her at ease. The owner and instructor chatted to her and explained what to do, and she completed her first lesson on lead rein with a huge smile on her face.
2 months later and she now has a second home! She has progressed so much and her confidence has soared. It has been wonderful to see.

My 8 year old niece has been having lessons for a few months and loves it so much at darky dale.
The owners and instructors are fantasic with the children and she has progressed so quickly with them.
There is a lovely variety of packages to choose from and it is excellent value.
The setting is absolutely stunning.
Above all, the owners clearly really loce and care for the horses abd ponys and they are treated so well.

Booked the full day ride. 7hrs in total. Stopped off at pub for lunch. Rode through every sort of scenery. Lots of canters. Horses were amazing. Couldn't fault a thing. Will definitely be back next year....but maybe just for the half day ride.

A brilliant experience. Darky Dale Forest Stables accommodated our group on 6th August. There were 10 of us ranging in ages from 4 to middle age. It was pitched just right- none of us had any real experience but we were keen for a proper ride. We rode out for an hour around the hills and through the forest- it was beautiful. We felt safe at all times and the horses were all superb. I thoroughly recommend booking a visit here if you are staying in the area. Many thanks.

Darky Dale is the most gorgeous stables I have ever seen. It’s like a ranch. Nestled at the bottom of a valley. We had a wonderful hack out through the peaceful forest. The horses were great. Forward going but really calm. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

We had a fantastic riding experience with Carl and Jess as Darky Dale Stables this weekend. The horses were so calm and gentle, and obviously well cared for. We learnt a lot about the horses and riding, and the scenery was amazing...Really enjoyed the whole experience. Would definitely recommend

We took my brothers children aged 6 and 9 to Darky Dale. We only booked for Poppy but Ben changed his mind and the team were so helpful getting another horse from the field for him to ride. My husband and I walked with the horses up the hill and through the forest . The views were fantastic and Gina provided loads of information and the children thoroughly enjoyed- they had both ridden before but the stables caters for all levels. There are other animals there for the children to see- a huge pig called sausage and a goat. Gina and her team are fantastic and we hope to go back soon.

I was very pleased to find that these stables (and horses!) did not blench at my weight, and I was able to enjoy an hour's guided riding around Hopton Woods. Lovely forest tracks, butterflies and glimpses of beautiful views. Everyone at the stables was welcoming and friendly and adaptable to the long period since I last rode. They cater for a wide range of ages, weights and experience. Interesting assortment of dogs, goats and kids, hens and a friendly pig as well as the horses and ponies. Well worth a visit.
