I am going to write here exactly what I told the lady at the desk. She kept saying I don't understand.
Anyways, here it is:
Before and after the pandemic, I took two days of 2 hours of private kite surfing lessons.
In December 2021, I took one day of 2 hours kit surfing class again. Also, my daughter, who is 16, took an introductory 2 hours.
Of course, this is not a sport you learn in 2 hours, and one needs consistent practice ... not every two years.
I was happy with the service, so this year, I went back.
At that point, I would give this place a 5-star rating.
Last week, I bought two days of 2 hours classes for me and my daughter (16).
The old instructor (an Argentinean guy) was not working there anymore, but the new guy (a Belgian guy, I am sorry, I always forget names) is as good as the previous one.
To my surprise, this time, they didn't have a boat. And for those who did it, you know there is a lot of walking in the water when you do the dragging.
For those who didn't try before, just thinking about it... your instructor better have a boat!
I do not want to exaggerate by saying that half the time, instead of learning and practicing, we were pulling the kite and walking close to the shore, so we didn't pass the buoy.
But I can say without exaggeration that we walked 40 minutes out of the 2 hours. Our last walk towards the shore took 15 minutes on the clock.
So I told the girl at the desk that I was not happy because they didn't provide a boat and half the time we wasted in walking in the water as opposed to my previous two experiences at the same place when we had been assigned a boat.
She kept saying this was not possible because this was not private, it was a group (me and my daughter), but she failed to explain why it cost us 125/hour each and no boat instead of 100$/ hour if private with the boat.
As I had already paid for two days, I had no choice. On the second day, we went again without the boat, and after one hour in which part we walked in the water coming back no to pass the buoy, we went to the shore (15 minutes walking) to take the boat and to save the 15 minutes walking at the end of the class...
This is my last time using the services of Aruba Active Vacations, and I would recommend, if you do, making sure the boat is included. There are other options for kite surfing classes on the same beach, though.
If not for the boat issue and the unprofessional reaction of the girl from the desk, I would not recommend this place to anybody.
Again, I already told them I was going to write a review about it, and they could not care less.

I had 3 private kite surfing lessons with Tom one of there instructors. Lesson provided good one on one instruction with good quality equipment. Each lesson build on what we learned before and always a how to kite surf safely. Everyone was extremely helpful and relaxed. You could tell everyone loved what they were doing, teaching kite surfing. If you are at all interested in kite flying, I can highly recommend this company.

The whole experience was amazing, everyone was super friendly and the class me and my wife did windsurfing were AWESOME!!! Will definitely be back!

AAV is located at a perfect spot for me to windsurf. The offshore breeze let me surf parallel to shore feeling very safe. The board and sail were perfect for my ability. After a fine bit of surfing I relaxed in the shade swinging in a hammock. This was my third time at AAV and i will return when I cruise to Aruba again. Very fair price.

Aruba Active Vacations were great to work with. Verys responsive and provided realistic expectations of my 2 hour personal lesson. My trainer was super informative, patient, and enjoyable to spend my lesson time with. Highly recommend their outfit!

We rented a couple of wind surf boards and got good material and we enjoyed the serving. The price was OK and when we used a bit more time it was no problem, very friendly staff, I recommend them.

Took my first kitesurfing lesson at Aruba Active Vacations. What a blast! The instructors were patient, kind, and very helpful. Can't wait to do it again so I can get up on the board and go!

Hi, Im planning september vacations to Aruba. My family and me we all do windsurf. Im very concerned on the quality of rental windsurf gear. We all do slalom and windfoil. I'm not willing to bring my own gear to aruba, so it would be nice to know if slalom gear and foil gear is available for rental. I dont seem to find anywhere the Board models for rental (eg. isonic, futura, etc) and liters, as well as sail models and sizes. This information is very valuable for customers that have many years in the sport and really notice the difference between freeride and slalom/freerace. It would great to have this info. Thank you very much!!

I'm planning to windsurf for the day on the 21st April. My wife will be with me as a non sailor. Are there beds available and umbrellas and is there somewhere to get food? When a take a taxi what do I tell the driver to find you?

If your wife is not sailing, it would be better for her just to meet you back at palm beach where there is food, water sports, sun beds etc. if you want her to go with you there are some covered chairs by the shop. Just tell the taxi to drop you at fishing huts. Taxis are pretty overpriced. Better to get a car. 3 short cab rides are more than a car rental.

AAV is literally a three minute walk up the beach (north) from the Marriott. Very nice people to deal with.
Not sure what sort of cycling you hope to do, but if you are thinking of mountain biking, the jeep/ATV trails that run along the east (windward) side of the island from the lighthouse, are actually pretty enjoyable - not singletrack, but still fun, and the scenery is great. If you are thinking of going the MTB route, note that AAV has regular hard tail bikes (typical rental quality), but they also offer premium full suspension bikes - I swapped my initial rental for one of them and had a really good quality Cannondale, that I enjoyed a lot. Well worth the few extra dollars.
One cautionary note - unless you really know your way around the island, do NOT try cutting through the residential neighbourhoods to go due east over to the windward side of the island - I tried it once, and had three different packs of semi-wild dogs give me a run for my money. It was quite frightening actually. No concerns like that on the trails over on the windward side though, where I never saw a single dog (rode five days) and there are enough other people around (jeep, ATV, horseback, hiking, biking, etc), that it feels quite safe, but not at all crowded. Have fun!
