Jennifer and John were very helpful. We had two adult bikes with kids seats on the back and 3 helmets (my daughter had her own). Recommend booking before hand which we did so no issues.
We weren't given a time limit which was great.
Both our kids, 3 yrs and 14 months, really enjoyed it!

Jennifer and John were so friendly snd helpful, gave us a map and an overview of the island, where to go and how difficult the route would be etc. We booked in advance and the bikes were ready for us to collect when they said they would be. The bikes worked well and we were provided with helmets. Faultless service and when we come back to Rathlin we will be hiring bikes again!

First class service from Jennifer. My husband had the unfortunate experience when he came off the bike and burst his crotch off the Cross bar. Jennifer provided him with First Aid and had a bag of frozen peas ready to bring down the swelling on his delicate parts. She really took good care of him until the ferry arrived at 5 o'clock.

Who needs a Rottweiler to guard your shed when you have a Jennifer....
Herself and John have zero customer service skills. Basil Faulty would be proud of them and recruit them in a heartbeat for his hotel.
The moment our family group stepped into their bike yard Jennifer came bounding out like a well trained rapid gaurd dog , bearing her teeth telling the children to get out of the bike shed.
In the end we left without bikes because of the ignorant attitude of Jennifer and John.
While initially the children were disappointed that they had no bikes they soon got over that as they laughed and told stories while walking around Rathlin about "Jennifer Trunchball". They were surprised to see that this is where Mrs Trunchball has retired to.
I won't recommend that other visitors not come here to Jennifer's bike shed , in fact it is the opposite. I think you should bring your children here to meet Mrs Trunchball. She and John are a tourist attraction in themselves! They will do a roaring trade for Halloween.
Just don't expect to leave with a bike. Rent your bikes in Ballycastle before boarding the ferry .

Hard to find a fault!
Rented 2 bikes. We were given a free and clear idea of what to expect and where to go to see everything on Rathlin before we got the bikes. Jumped on and went. Easy.

If you ever wanted to give an example of bad customer service, then this is the place to sit it. Having walked 10 minutes from the ferry to the ‘cycle hire’ we were met with what could only be described as an angry and miserable lady. She was clearly frustrated that we hadn’t booked (although they were completely quiet) and was shouting orders at us from the start. After mumbling about them being cash only (stone ages?) she would not wait for us to check if we had enough money (£45 for 3 bikes) so she walked off. We stated we had the money however she was gone, one of our group followed her in order to pay and get the bikes. Big mistake, the group member was given a verbal telling off about how we were told to ‘stay at the gate’. So we left without getting any bikes, we also told everyone we seen not to bother as the woman is so rude. A group of 6 turned round when we told them, so all in all her attitude cost her £200+. There are some positive reviews about the customer service for this business, I can assure you that these reviews are false and made by family members/friends. There is absolutely no way that this woman has ever provided any sort of friendly service. The Island is beautiful (not a whole lot to do) but we recommend hiring bikes in Ballycastle (for cheaper) and bringing them onto the ferry. This will save you money and the experience of being told off like a schoolboy. How can a woman who makes a living off of tourists, hate tourists?

Definitely would recommend hiring the bikes from John as you can see twice as much of the island by bike as opposed of walking. We didn't book we just showed up and got 2 bikes with no issues. When we were leaving the bikes back John offered to take us down to the boat so we could get the earlier one. Will be back again Top Class Thanks Again

Dette var helt tipp topp! Vi leide el-sykler hos Jennifer og John, noe som var helt fantastisk! El-syklene var lette å sykle på og vi fikk sett hele øyene på en dag. Det var en drøm å sykle i oppoverbakkene som nedoverbakkene. Vi tenkte ikke noe på strømbruket og hadde masse igjen etter å ha syklet rundt hele øyen. Anbefales på sterkeste!

Emailed in advance to enquire about hiring couple of bikes. Response was quick and booked in for 10am collection.
Cost was £15 per bike and supplied with helmet if you want one.
It was definitely the best way to travel round the island as it meant we avoided the crowds travelling on the buses. Virtually no traffic so very safe. Some hills were steep and we walked up these. Advantage of cycling us you can pause to take in views and there were picnic benches too along route.
Pickup of bikes was easy and given number to call if we had any problems. My wife's gears slipped a bit, but was managable.
We cycled to the East Lighthouse, but in my view was not worth it. You could not get that close and last section of road was unsealed so not easy to cycle on. With hindsight spending bit more time at Rue lighthouse/sitting on seats along the route by the ushot lough would have been better.
Overall definitely a good decision to cycle round.

John and Jennifer’s bikes were the best decision we made coming to Rathlin! We were able to see practically the whole island in one sunny day. Quick reply on the booking email (I only emailed the day before we arrived) and bikes we’re sitting ready for us as the ferry got in. (John even accidentally picked us up in his van on the way to the bike rental location). Such a great way of being able to see more of the island if you are only making a day trip. Very friendly local business with good advice on cycle routes. Already planning our trip back!
